Soft mystical light filtered in through the dusty blinds of the bedroom, small crickets singing their nighttime lullabies in hope of finding the one to join in on their eternal duet. The moon shone in all of her glory, her full figure on display next to her younglings who twinkled with hope.
Miles di Angelo laid silent as he basked in the cool air and dark light. It felt chilly against his skin, sweaty from the activities that had transpired before. His chest rose and fell quicker than normal as he attempted to catch his breath, still worn and exhausted from those same nighttime activities.
Roy Mustang was already asleep, his dark eyes closed and his black hair frazzled. He seemed content with everything in that moment, trauma of years past slinking away from his face. His mind was only full of peace as he dreamt, his hands subconsciously reaching out to his boyfriend and pulling him closer. At the feeling of his body being pulled flushed against Roy's bare chest, Miles snapped out of his trance and glanced up to the other man's face.
He thought about how long they had been together, both platonically and romantically. He thought about all they had been through how together, how Roy had come back from the Ishvalan War broken and battered. How he had thrown his bloodstained soul into Miles' victimless arms, sobbing and shaking with the memories of his crimes.
With everything that happened thus far and was bound to happen in the future, they were practically married.
Miles let out a silent chuckle at the prospect. Him? Married? But as it settled in, he realized just how outrageous some might find it. The pair had been together for almost a decade, and known one another even longer. They had become State Alchemists together and served their government side by side. They fought like a married couple.
Why hadn't Roy proposed yet? Miles asked himself. He imagined them having matching rings, and the barrier that it created around his boyfriend. The thought of no more woman approaching Roy, thrown off by a simple piece of jewelry, overwhelmed him with an undeniable joy.
Yes, Roy always denied their advanced and showed Miles off with pride, but c'mon. It was still annoying.
It was then that di Angelo decided it was final. He was going to get his boyfriend to propose.
