of all the things my hands have held, the best by far is you.
Kaylee Phelan is under a lot of pressure. Having grown up in the spotlight with two award-winning, country superstar parents, Kaylee is expected to follow in their footsteps. So when her second album is a total flop, the record label executives suggest taking a more pop/alternative approach to her new music, and she almost has no choice but to agree, despite her heart being in country music.
Dakota Rhodes needs to catch a break. After getting kicked out of his band and finding out his mother has cancer, his drinking problem and his writers block has only gotten worse. So when Kaylee Phelan's manager approaches him with an offer to partner up with Kaylee, he takes the bait out of desperation.
Kaylee and Dakota butt heads immediately, but their undeniable chemistry and love of music has them walking a fine line between a simple duet and something more.
This book will have mature themes such as strong language, sexual content, and addiction/alcoholism.
Please keep in mind these characters are not perfect, just like none of us are. They may say things and make decisions you don't agree with. They make mistakes, just like we do. It makes the story realistic.
And most importantly, as with any of my stories, happy endings are not guaranteed.
- If I had to rank some of my absolute favorite things in the world, music would be in my top three (probably behind football and writing). I've never written a story that focuses around music and musicians though, since I'm definitely lacking in the talent department of music. BUT they say those who can't do, write about it! Or something like that.
- Full disclaimer though - I absolutely despise country music, but for the sake of my writing, it's here.
- This story will be more in the straight up adult fiction space versus my usual new adult or college aged. Characters are meant to be aged in their mid to late 20s.
-As always, this is a first draft - meaning it is checked for spelling and grammar, but plot, voice, and stylistic continuity will be edited when the story is complete. If you see any typos or anything like that, please feel free to point them out.
