The rest of my week was a complete nightmare. Well, that's probably an understatement.
Firstly, after the incident with Tatiana in his office, I did not set foot in there since then. I was still quite scarred, seeing them devouring each other disturbed me deeply. If I needed to give him some files, I would simply slide them under the door or just email them to him.
Bryce and I also hadn't spoken, well except for the courteous greetings and when it was extremely important. I was mad at him, and for some unknown reason, he was mad at me. So we were just back where we had started.
It was almost six p.m., and I was currently wrapping up for the day. It was Friday, thank heavens, and I was exhausted. Being a personal assistant is probably one of the most exasperating jobs there are.
Bryce was still in his office, so I went to notify me about my departure. I knocked lightly on his office door, and he told me to come in.
"I'm about to head out, did you still need anything, sir?" I asked politely.
He didn't even bother to look up from his blasted computer. "No, you may leave." he replied blankly.
"Good night," I mumbled under my breath, then closed the door and proceeded to the elevator.
When I got outside, I was expecting to see Edwin waiting patiently for me by the signature black Escalade, but today, that was not the case. He was there, surely, but next to him was a grey Lamborghini Veneno and someone was standing right by it.
It was Logan.
He was looking at his phone, but when he heard my footsteps, he looked up and grinned at me.
"Aubrey, long time no see," he chirped cheerfully and stepped forward to where I was standing.
"Logan," I said hesitantly. I was not expecting to see him at all.
His smile faltered. "You don't seem happy to see me." he said, dejectedly.
"No," I began, "It's just that-"
"What the hell are you doing here, Hunter?" someone growled from behind us.
That was Bryce, no doubt about that. Who else could display so much hate with only eight words?
Logan smirked, not at me, but at Bryce. "Mr. Roberts, how do you do?" he pronounced in that deep, attractive British accent of his.
"You better go away before I-"
"He's not going anywhere," I cut him off.
I turned around to meet Bryce's icy grey orbs, sending me a look of bewilderment. I didn't look away, but simply looked straight back at him.
"Well, I'm here to actually steal you away, Aubrey, since you stood me up on our last date."
I cringed, remembering that night. I averted my gaze to Logan. "I didn't stand you up. Let's just say, I was whisked away by a not so charming individual." I joked lightly, seeing Bryce tense at my statement from my peripheral vision.
Logan smirked again. "Oh, but I know just how uncharming that person can be. He's usually a prick." He laughed.
I snorted at that, but Bryce stepped forward in front of me to face Logan directly. "One, don't speak of me as if I'm not here. Two, the only prick around here is you." he hissed.
Logan laughed at him right in his face. "I told you I cannot be stopped, Bryce."
Bryce ignored him. "Edwin, take Aubrey to her home right now."
Edwin was about to come forward to take me to the car, but I held up my hand to stop him. "Edwin, don't. I think you already heard that Logan and I have plans."
Logan's grin once again donned his amazingly handsome face, and Bryce on the other hand, looked very displeased.
Logan held his hand out to me, and I clasped it. We were about to get into his car, when Bryce unceremoniously grabbed me by the elbow. I looked back at him, more specifically his hand on my elbow.
"Let go," I spat, looking up at him. I hate how almost everyone I know towers over me. Damn my shortness.
"I warned you about him, Aubrey. You're dancing with the devil." he muttered lowly, so that only I could hear.
I shrugged off his hand. "The only devil around here, is you. Stay out of my love life, Bryce. You're my boss, but only in the office."
With that, I turned my head towards Logan, who shot me a sweet, yet somehow mischievous smile, and he led me to his hot car. As we drove away, I could help but glance back at Bryce, who looked outraged, and dare I say it, jealous?
"Where do you want to eat?" Logan asked, keeping his eyes on the road.
"To be honest, anything sounds okay right now." I said weakly. Why was I starting to regret this now?
"Sure," he said, then he asked, "Why is Bryce so overprotective of you?"
I don't know, your guess is as good as mine, Logan.
"We used to be married," I blurted out, but regretted it a second after I had already said it.
"What," he said, completely shocked. "You were once married to Bryce? How the hell did that happen?"
I had just opened up a can of worms. "It was like love at first time. We were both 22 at the time and after a couple of years, we split. We went our separate ways after that, but I guess our fates are intertwined once again."
He was quiet for a second, then his face was overtaken by a smug expression, as if he had just realized something. "So, he's still in love with you." he stated, not asked.
I was taken aback. "No, he's not."
"Oh, but he is. Why do you think he was hot with jealousy back there? That bastard definitely still has feelings for you."
I shook my head. There was no way that was true. If that was the case, then why was he about to shag Tatiana in his office on Monday?
"You know what," I breathed, "let's just drop this topic. I think you should just drop me off at my apartment because I'm not feeling too well."
"Aubrey, I'm sorry if I hit a nerve but-"
"Just take me home please. I need to lie down." I told him the directions to my new apartment and he made a U-turn, heading back where we had come from.
Minutes later, I exited his car. He tried to apologize but I told him there was nothing to apologize for. He sped off, and I proceeded into the apartment building. I opened my door and got in, sliding against the door once I had gotten in.
"Home so soon?" said a voice, from somewhere in the dark apartment.
I froze. Who could that possibly be?
