Mitch smiled when he walked into Arden's room to see Scott rocking her in the rocking chair that sat in the corner of the room. He quietly hummed to her as she drank from the bottle he was feeding her, her eyes fixated on him as he smiled.
"Hi little baby. How did you get so big in just one week? Look at those eyes! You are going to be a heartbreaker, aren't you?" Scott chuckled softly, setting the empty bottle on the table and lifting the baby so he could burp her against his shoulder.
"Is she okay?" Mitch asked, causing Scott to glance up and nod. "I heard her crying on the baby monitor, but you got here before I could,"
"Yeah, she's fine. She was just a little hungry and I was making her a bottle anyways. I think I might giver her a bath in a bit,"
Mitch nodded, leaning against the doorframe. "Sounds good."
Scott just hummed a response, his eyes trained on his phone until he finished burping Arden and set her back in her crib. "You stay here, little miss," he started, "I'm going to go find you a change of clothes before bath time,"
Scott turned and made his way towards her closet, trying to ignore Mitch's eyes until he glanced over and sighed.
"Why are you ignoring me?"
"Are you kidding? You accuse me of cheating on you, and then you ask why I'm upset." Scott scoffed. "You're a piece of work, Mitch Grassi."
Mitch frowned, "I'm sorry. It was a dick move on me and I know that. I just— sometimes I feel like I'm living in a dream. I mean.. you're literally perfect, Scott. You're the best father ever, to our kids, you're an incredible boyfriend. You're incredibly smart, you're charming and funny and drop dead fucking gorgeous— sometimes I find it stupidly hard to believe that you're with someone like me."
"You're a law student, Scott. You are ridiculously smart and you are everything anyone looks for in a husband and I— I'm just me. I'm a college drop out who had a kid before his life ever started. I popped a kid out before I was even legally old enough to buy a bottle of wine."
"So was I." Scott frowned.
"But you didn't know you were a father— you got to live out your college life and when you found out about Wes, you stepped up and you did so much for us without a single thought about yourself. You are literally everything anyone could ask for in a partner, and a huge part of me feels like I don't deserve that. That I don't deserve you."
After a few moments, Scott took Mitch's hand. "So you accused me of having feelings for your best friend because you think what we have is too good to be true? That there's a catch, or whatever?"
Mitch looked away, "I guess."
Scott shook his head. "You, the kids- you three are my everything." Mitch looked up at Scott's soft and gentle tone. "I understand your feelings, and your thoughts and emotions are valid, but I will never cheat on you, Mitch. I will never let anything hurt this family or you or us. Nothing will ever get in the way of me loving you. I promise."
