"I'm sorry, what?" Nate said, turning off the treadmill and looking straight at me.

I just told him everything that happened with Cameron on the flight. Nate and I are working out in the gym, and at this point we're both pretty worn out, so it was time to finally come out with it all. I don't want him to be mad.

I pulled an awkward smile at him for a second as I continued running.

"You love him?" Nate asked. He brushed his sweaty hair off, that stuck to his forehead.

"It's not like that. At all. You understand what I mean though, right?"

"Um.." He shrugged.

"He's always going to be a part of my life. It's difficult - everything I went through with him. We got married, I had a child with him, we got divorced.. now he's back. He's staying. He keeps trying to get me back." I tell him. "I just need you to know that I don't want him. I want you. And I had to tell you, I know it's kinda strange to hear, it's just I don't wanna keep it from-"

"Lindy." Nate started, "you don't need to explain yourself, I get it. It's just something I'll have to get used to. I know you're mine, I don't need reassurance. I know you."

"I'm going to speak to him, though." Nate says.

"You are?"

"I had some feeling that this would continue. Frankly, it's annoying me. So I'm going to have a conversation with him and make sure it's clear he knows where he stands."

I nodded. "Okay... and where does he stand?"

"He's Logan's dad, and that's it. He can be the fatherly figure he wants to be. I'm not getting in the way of that, it's just us I don't want him meddling into."

"Right." I answer. There was a weird silence in the room - it was super late and nobody else was really here. All you could hear was the panting of two fatigued people.

"I'm gonna go up to the room, I'm really tired." Nate finished, and threw his towel over his shoulder and grabbed his bottle. He seems off.

He might be upset.

"You know I love you, right?" I tell him, holding his hand. "So much."

"I do. And I love you too. More than anything," he replies.

"I hope you're not mad or anything." I say to him softly.

"I'm not mad at you. It's him."

"Oh. Yeah, I get that. He's really infuriating."

"Damn right," he said, letting go.

"Nate?" I asked, as he began to walk off to the exit.

He stopped in his tracks and looked back, waiting for me to say something.

"Any chance you wanna... take up on that offer? If you're not too tired..." I say awkwardly, maintaining eye contact. I haven't had sex with him in a while, to be honest. It's been a bit strange between us, because Cameron is always around. He's either at our house chilling with Logan, or we go to his. Lately, I haven't really been in the mood for it and we just haven't talked about it much.

I've missed it though.

He chuckled. "Oh yeah?"

"Mhmm," I say, approaching him.

I get close to him to plant little kisses on his neck and he uses his free hand to squish my butt. I moan, it felt so nice to be touched by him. I then just wrapped my arms around him. "I don't want you to feel like you have to," he whispered in my ear. "Because I know it's been a while."
