My eyes roamed around the bedroom that the maid showed me. My room. I sat at the tip of the bed. If this is what rich people call bedroom then mine would be a dungeon, seriously. Everything in this room screams opulence. If someone have told me weeks ago that I'll live in a place like this I would've laughed at his face. Because hello? Me? I doubt I can afford anything in here not even the rug. Who would've thought fate will pull off something like this on me?
"Sis...." My brother called behind my door with a soft knock.
"Come in, Joseph."
"Hi." He sat next to me. "How are you feeling?"
"Hmmm, A lot better. The med they drugged me was good it helps numb the pain."
There was a heavy pause. Knowing my brother well, he tends to be silent when something's bothering him. "What is it, Joseph? Feel free to ask or speak what's on your mind. How many times do I have to tell you that you can share everything to me." I smiled at him.
"It's just that, ahm, I hope you won't be offended I was just wondering why, ahm---" He sighed. "Everything seems to be too good to be true, I don't know..."
I took a deep breath. Lying was never my forte, but I have to. "What are you implying Joseph? That Travis will never fall for someone like me? That it's 'too good to be true' for him to marry me because we're poor? Oh maybe you mean I'm kind of gold digger whore, trying to---"
"No! I will never ever label you as someone like that, I'm sorry. I'm just afraid you'll get hurt in the end. I mean he's a well known player, he's very popular at my school especially to girls they always have a magazine with him on the front page with different women. Well, maybe he's changed. I don't know. But, there's one question that keeps on running in my head. How could someone known as a tycoon, billionaire or whatsoever, can't even give his fiancee even a simple engagement ring?"
I was caught off guard by his question. It never crossed my mind! My brother's a smart person & very observant! Of course he'll notice!
"Nevermind. I hope you're not mad. I have to go. I love you."
"It's okay, see you soon then. Take care of yourself and dad for me. Love you both!" I hugged him before he left.
I stood up and start unpacking my stuffs. I put the last piece of cloth in the cabinet when I heard another knock on the door.
"Ma'am Alice, Ms. Anastasia Jacobs is waiting downstairs, should I tell her to come up, ma'am?" Anastasia Jacobs? I don't think I know a Anastasia in my life? Hmm, guess there's only one way to find out who she is.
"Uhm, it's okay. I'll go down myself. Thank you." I closed the cabinet and checked myself at the mirror before heading downstairs.
I took the last step and I noticed instantly a beautiful woman sitting on the sofa. She stood up when she saw me and gave me her sweetest smile. God, she's so beautiful there's no way in hell I know this person. "Hi, I sort of hate to ask b-but have we met before? I-" I chuckled, "I don't think you're familiar. Don't get me wrong, because you really look stunning."
She smiled even wider. "Oh, don't be like that Ms. Alice. You're perfectly stunning yourself, Mr. Monterro have a very good taste. You are right, we haven't met before. I'm Anastasia Jacobs and from this day onwards I'll be you're personal assistant. I will teach & guide you on everything, fashion, communicating & all. Mr. Monterro had informed me that you're not used to those sort of things, and yep I'm here to help you!" She babbled with a smile never leaving her face.
