Beth woke up the next morning with an excruciating headache. She wasn't sure if it was all the alcohol she had consumed the previous night or the fact that it sounded like World War III had just broken out outside her bedroom.
And she was absolutely sure Jordan and Leah don't argue that loud.
She dragged herself out of bed and into the hallway where all hell was breaking loose.
Beth wasn't sure what to make of the situation. Daan was being held back by Kim and Emma because she looked like she was about to break down Beth's bedroom door.
Viv and Jill were screaming at Daan in Dutch and Lisa, Jen, Leah and Jordan were sat watching the whole thing unfold.
"What the hell is going on?!" Beth shouted.
Leah jumped across the sofa and leaned across so she could speak to Beth.
"Daan was going to ask you out again but we told her to give you time to settle in and now we're all fearing for our lives."
Beth sighed, "I'll talk to her."
She breathed in deeply and walked towards Daan, trying to avoid the throwing of arms.
"DAAN!"
Daan jumped, and broke herself free from the grasp of Jill and Vivianne.
"What is it, Beff?"
"I want you to calm down."
"I want you to go out with me but we can't have everything we want in life."
Beth rolled her eyes. "If you continue acting like a wild animal, I definitely won't go out with you."
This seemed to calm her down considerably and Beth laughed when Jill let out a sigh of relief.
"So you'll go out with me then?" Daan asked, grinning at Beth.
Beth sighed, "Maybe," she said before walking back into her room again.
Daan followed her straight away, "That's not an answer!"
"It's 9:30, I can't make coherent thoughts at this time!"
"It's just a simple yes or no?"
"Yes."
"Really?" Daan said, leaning against the wall.
"No."
"You're being unfair." Daan groaned.
"I'm not being unfair." Beth muttered, jumping on her bed.
"Let me take you out then."
"Alright. Fine! But it's not a date!"
"It's not a date. Right. I'll pick you up tonight at 8!"
"Not a second later, Daan."
"Understood."
Beth couldn't believe that she'd given in that easily.
"Wait!"
"What is it, Daan?"
"Can you pick me up instead?"
"...Sure."
"8pm and not a second later!"
—
Beth got ready considerably early for her 'non date' with Daan and she walked into the living room where Jordan and Leah were sat and put her head in her hands.
"Come on she's not that bad." Jordan laughed.
"I'm not saying she is. I'm saying I don't think I'm ready for a relationship just yet."
"Tell her that then." Leah said.
"I should go." Beth said, getting up and taking her car keys off the hook.
"Have fun! But not too much fun." Jordan shouted as she left the house.
—
Beth pulled up outside Daan's house 10 minutes later, texting her to tell her she's outside.
Beth couldn't help but smile a bit when Daan comes out of the house because she looks really good, but never in a million years would Beth tell her that. Not yet.
Daan got into the car and grinned at her.
"So, I lied." She said after a moment of silence.
"About?"
"I never actually booked a table for us. BUT I do have somewhere else we can go. Give me your phone."
Beth looked at Daan curiously before handing the girl her phone.
Daan went into Beth's maps and typed in 'Ruislip Lido' into the search bar. She had to double check how to spell it because she wasn't sure.
"Leah told me you grew up by the beach..." Daan shrugged a little and handed Beth back the phone.
"That's really sweet Daan." Beth laughed a little as she followed the directions of google maps.
Daan smiled as they pulled up to to the car park and got out the car.
The two walked round the beach for hours, getting to know each other better. Beth told Daan about her time at Sunderland and growing up in Whitby and in return, Daan told Beth about growing up in the Netherlands and about her previous clubs.
"Beff?" Daan said, as they were on their way back into central London.
"Hm?" Beth muttered, glancing at her.
"Why did you say yes?"
Beth sighed, "Because I knew if I kept saying no you wouldn't leave me alone."
"So you didn't actually want to go out with me?"
"That's not what I meant. I just don't know if I'm ready to have a relationship yet. I just need time." Beth muttered as she pulled up outside Leah's.
Daan got out and never said another word to Beth as they went into the house.
"Daan wait—"
"I thought you said you needed space, Beff? I'll give you space."
Beth sighed, pushing past Leah, Jordan and Kim and walking straight up to her room.
"Well it looks like that went well." Leah muttered, unenthusiastically.
"Kim, can you take me home?"
Kim nodded.
"Goodnight, Leah, Jordan." Kim nodded as Daan dragged her from the room and out the front door.
