Chapter 96

While I tried to work, my mind was elsewhere. I was not focused on the store or these customers and I think Ashaunte noticed.

"Bri, you okay?" she asked, "you seem a little distracted today."

"Yeah, I'm good."

She looked at me like she didn't believe me. "Why don't you take the rest of the night off. You can go home and get some rest or do whatever you need to do."

"Are you sure?" I asked, hiding my enthusiasm.

"Yeah," she smiled.

I went to the break room, got all my stuff and left the store.

I didn't know if I should go to Blake's house now or wait until eight. I decided to just go by his house, hoping he wouldn't mind.

I pulled up outside his house and hesitantly got out the car. I knocked and when he opened the door, he had no shirt on.

Oh God.

While I was just hangin' around the house, I heard a faint knock on the door. It was 6:35 and I wasn't expecting to see Bri until at least 8:30.

I went to open the door and saw Bri standing there. I wasn't expecting her so soon, but I wasn't complaining.

"You're early," I said, holding back my smile.

"Ashaunte gave me the rest of the night off," she smiled.

"Well, come in."

She came in and I watched her walk in the living room. She sat on the couch and looked up at me.

"If we're gonna talk, you're gonna have to go put on a shirt," she said as I sat down.

"You don't like what you see?"

"I do, and that's why you need to put one on," she said, "it's a distraction."

"I don't feel like going upstairs to put one on though."

She smiled and rolled her eyes. "So what did you wanna talk about?"

"What about us?"

"I miss you and I've been miserable without you these last two months. I love you and I want you to give me another chance."

The smile on her face slowly faded and she was very quiet. I think she was trying to process what I said.

"But do you understand how bad you hurt me though?" she asked, playing with her fingers, "you were the one person I thought would never hurt me and you did."

A tear fell down her cheek and I wiped it away. I know this isn't what she had in mind, but I think it's good we talk about this.

"I'm so sorry, Bri. You have to know that I never wanted to hurt you."

She took a deep breath, then let it out.

"Remember the day we first started dating and you," her voice cracked a little, "you promised me you wouldn't cheat on me? We agreed that you would break up with me first...but you -"

She started crying mid sentence.

"Baby, please don't cry. I hate seeing you cry like this."

"I can't help it. I thought you loved me," she said, looking in the opposite direction.

"Briana, look at me."

She slowly turned her head to look at me.

"Don't ever say that. I do love you and I never stopped loving you."

"Then why would you do this? It felt like you ripped my heart out and stomped on it repeatedly," she said.

"And I would be the biggest liar on the planet if I said I didn't miss you too," she said.

I wanted to hear everything she had to say, so I just let her talk.

"I miss you so fucking much, Blake. I miss lying in bed with you and I miss the way you would snore lightly as you're falling asleep. I miss the way your stubble feels against my face when you kiss my cheek. I miss the late night talks we would have when neither of us could sleep. I miss the way you would hold me when we watch scary movies. I miss...I miss the way you called me beautiful all time, even after I wake up or when I come from the studio and I'm sweaty. I just miss you in general. I know that's cheesy as hell, but I don't care."

She's so cute for that.

"That's not cheesy at all because I miss little things about you too," I said smiling, "I miss hearing you say my name and I miss your laugh. I miss the way you would kiss all over my face to wake me up. I miss the way your nose flares when you get frustrated. I miss watching you dance all around the house and I miss the sound of your camera when you take random Polaroids. I miss having you around all the time, Bri."

She scooted closer to me and wrapped her arms around my neck and I wrapped mine around her waist. We just basically sat there hugging each other for a while until she pulled away.

"But why should I take you back when I didn't even take Devin back?" she asked.

"Because Devin didn't love you the way I do. I want what's best for you and I'm gonna be by your side no matter what. And I know you love me more than you loved Devin."

She smiled a little and wiped her eyes. "But I don't wanna jump back into this relationship today. I mean, I do wanna be with you, I just -"

"Let me take you out tomorrow. I'll prove to you how much I love you," I said.

"Alright," she said after thinking about it.

"So we're good now, right?"

"Yeah, we're good."

We smiled at each other and gave each other a high five.

"So, now what?" she asked.

"Can I kiss you?" I asked with a smirk.

"Of course you can," she smiled.

I ran my thumb over her cheek, then kissed her. She lied back on the couch and I lied on top of her. I pulled away, then kissed her one last time before laying my head on her stomach. I felt her run her fingers through my hair and I ran my hand up & down her thigh.

God, I've missed this.
