"What do you need to do Tod? Maybe I can help you."
"Sure." Tod gave Mes his dimpled smile, that would've made the latter's heart skip a bit, if he weren't dead already.
Mes caressed the left side of his chest, in an attempt to soothe himself. He wondered what was happening to him. Why did he find his new friend's smile so... mesmerizing.
"Mes are you ok? You look like you just saw a ghost" Tod chuckled at his own joke.
"Hm, yeah" Mes mumbled, unable to reply properly, as Tod's chuckle made his stomach flutter.
"Well, let's go then"
Tod paced, with Mes quitely following him, out of the room and into the busy hallway. Tod showed Mes into another room, telling him to relax.
"Stay here for a while, I'll go the the register counter and will be back shortly"
"Tod, wait!" Mes fumbled with his fingers, keeping his gaze down, "where are we?" he asked as he sat on a really white, comfy love seat.
"In a waiting area... this is where the souls wait before passing through." He explained to confused Mes.
"Passing through?" Mes looked up at Tod, waiting for further explanation.
"Passing through the gate." He glanced at Mes, who still looked very lost and confused"
Tod took a loud sigh, walked up to Mes and squatted on the floor, placing himself between the taller's legs. He took Mes' hands into his, squeezing them softly and trying to make eye contact with him.
"Mes, look at me," he started softly, looking up at him from the floor.
Mes felt a fire creeping up his face and neck at the proximity. He was sure he would blush if he weren't a ghost. But he looked down at the other nonetheless, finding warm, brown eyes staring right into his.
"Mes... do you not know anything?" Tod continued, his tone soft and tender, just as his gaze, "did you not come here when your soul left your body?"
"No, not that I can remember. When I died, I felt like something was keeping me there, and when I met Thun, I figured it was because of him.
"Thun again... of course, who else" Tod mumbled under his breath, "well let me explain then. We're in a waiting area, where all the souls are waiting to pass through. Some wait longer, some less. Some just past through the moment they die.
When I died, I came here and find out about him, I thought he was waiting for me, turns out, not" he sadly looked down.
"Pass through where? And who is 'he' that you're talking about? And who was the guy at the registering counter? Are you going to see him now?" Mes made sure to empathise on 'him'.
"That guy's name is Angel. He helps guide the lost souls. He is a Gate Keeper. The souls of people who are finished with their business pass through his gate to an after life. That's where they wait for their turn to reincarnate, or they stay forever if they choose to. Now, I have to go see him, You relax here for a bit, ok?"
"Ok" Mes frowned as Tod exited the room. He suddenly felt overwhelmingly lonely. He wanted Tod to come back soon. Mes realized he hasn't thought about Thun or missed him since he started talking to Tod, and for some reason, with Tod, he doesn't feel empty anymore.

"Hey Angel!" Tod appeared in front of a gorgeous man behind the counter.
"Oh, hi Tod, what's up? Have you decided what are you going to do?"
"Yes, I have. I will help him and move on. It was never a choice for me, I can't bear watching him so broken, I will make him happy."
