I hadn't seen Alpha Titus after the night he had tried to claim me. But he had sent clothes up to my room. They were all beautiful summer dresses and jeans and shirts. There were so many clothes although there wasn't a single outfit that revealed anything above the knees.
It had been two days since that night and I was starting to wonder if Alpha Titus felt the way that Eleanor did. Maybe she was right. Maybe I wasn't beautiful enough for him.
I decided I'd had enough of his attitude. I was his mate and my 'beauty' shouldn't matter, right? Besides, I had to confront him. I needed his help in finding my brother and protecting him.
So I pulled on a breezy summer dress which, obviously, covered my knees. But I felt so angry that I wanted to provoke him. So I asked Eleanor to bring me a pair of scissors and I cut off the hem so it only covered a part of my thighs.
Admittedly, my cutting looked a little shabby but I really didn't care. I was hoping this would be revenge for all that he had put me through the past two days.
I mustered up the courage to walk out of that room. I climbed down the stairs much to the horror of some of his pack wolves.
There was a gorgeous, blonde girl sitting in the lounge with three guys. They immediately stood up as they saw me.
"You must be the Alpha's mate," the blonde girl engulfed in a warm hug. The three guys were looking at their feet without saying a word to me.
"I'm Emelia," I told her.
"I know," she said, "I'm Cori, the third in command."
"It's so great to see a girl in charge here,"
"Unfortunately, I'm not in charge. It's Austin over there who's the beta."
"Hey, Austin," I waved at him but he still didn't look up. Cori giggled.
"Why are they standing like that?"
"Because of your dress," she explained, "the Alpha would kill them if they looked at you while you were wearing that."
My cheeks were burning up. I felt like Cori was laughing at my foolishness.
"I should go back ups-"
"Cori!" I heard a booming voice and Cori immediately stepped back.
"Alpha," she said in a low voice.
"Please get more appropriate clothes for Emelia and everyone else, leave the house immediately."
Cori and the boys rushed out as fast as they could and before I knew it we were alone.
Alpha Titus was in front of me within seconds. His vanilla scent had filled my nostrils and I felt light headed.
"What were you trying to do?" he asked. His voice was low and I could tell that he was angry.
"N-nothing,"
"The clothes I sent you weren't supposed to be anything like this,"
"I'm sorry,"
Why did I say that? I wasn't sorry. He should have been sorry for ignoring me that way. He should have been sorry for imposing his rules on me.
"Please go change,"
I turned around and started to walk upstairs to my room but then I stopped. I had no reason to be sorry then why was I going upstairs?
"Actually," I turned around, "I'm not sorry. I'm not the one who has been ignoring my mate. In fact, I've been beating myself up about why you don't want to be with me. Is it because I'm not pretty enough? Or because of all the trouble you had to go to in order to bring me here? Is it because of my brother or because you're in love with someone else and I'm just ruining it for you?"
