My wolf was starving and so was I. But I had to keep running to avoid the wolves Liam had sent after me.
I had decided to head north, as far away from Max's territory as possible. The journey was too difficult, though. There was a moment where I felt like the world was ending but I had to continue or I would have been killed at the hands of Liam's wolves.
My wolf was beginning to slow down because of the hunger and I knew it was only be moments before he completely gave out.
I sat under the shadow of a maple tree and placed my duffel bag in front of me. I had been holding it in my mouth, which was starting get sore too.
I shifted under the tree which was extremely painful because I was almost drained of energy. But my my white fur managed to shift back to human skin even though it took longer than usual.
I pulled on some clothes that I had brought. It was starting to get chilly, so I slid into my denim jacket. Curling up next to the tree, I fell into a deep slumber.
That was when I saw Anna. She was wearing a long white dress and a veil which was drenched in blood.
"Anna!" I screamed.
"Cody," she whispered, "save me,"
"Come with me!" I held out my hand but she was too far to grab it.
"Please don't go," she said, "I need you,"
"Baby, just come with me," I stepped forward but she was still too far.
"They don't trust me,"
"Who?"
"Cody, I feel like I'm going to die." She murmured. She sounded so weak that it scared me. It scared me even more that I couldn't get to her.
"You'll be okay but please just come with me."
Anna held out her hands for me to hold and I grabbed onto them but then the blood covered her entire body and suddenly she had disappeared and my hands were covered in dark, red blood.
I woke up in a cold sweat whispering her name. Where was she? Was she okay? I should not have left her there. I should have done something. Anything.
"You okay?"
I looked up to see a red haired girl staring down at me. Standing next to her were two boys. One of them had white blonde hair and the other was dark haired.
I could smell wolves all over them.
"You have the scent of a pack wolf," she said in an accusing tone. The three of them were surrounding me as if they would pounce any second.
"I was a pack wolf,"
I had only propped myself up on one arm so the red head knelt down to look me in the eyes to see if I was telling the truth or not. I couldn't understand how she would know but after one glance, she seemed to believe me.
She stood up and I stood up once she did. It was shameful lying at their feet. They were no more than a bunch of rogues.
"Which pack?" The blonde boy asked, rather suspiciously.
I didn't know whether it was safe to tell the truth so I decided against that.
"Zakemore,"
"The one ruled by Alpha Dustin?" The redhead looked appalled. I didn't blame her. Alpha Dustin was know for his not-very-honorable escapades.
"That's the one," I told her.
"Lock him up, guys!" she ordered angrily.
"What did I do?" I yelled.
"You know exactly what your pack did!" The dark haired boy said as he and his friend took hold of me and dragged me towards a van.
"We can get information out of him." The blonde boy said and the other two seemed to agree. I just didn't know what information they were talking about.
"We should take him to the others first and see what they have to say." The redhead said.
The boys picked me up and threw me in the back of the van. I tried to struggle but I was too weak. they had clasped chains around my wrists and ankles.
Chains couldn't contain a wolf but I was too weak from the hunger and they seemed to know it.
Darkness enfolded me as they shut the doors. I crawled to a corner of the van without a clue about what was happening to me.
