I.    VIVIAN'S PLAN
( CHAPTER ONE. )

THE DOOR SLAMMED BEHIND OSWIN as he scurried out the front door and over to his bike. He had attempted to contact his best friend, Vivian Harlow, one too many times for his liking and had decided to find out why she wasn't answering— and to give her shit about it. She only lived down the street, so Oswin had arrived in her driveway in no time. He quickly hopped off his bike and ran to the front door of the Harlow house, knocking on it profusely.

"Vivian Harlow, answer this door right now! I know you're here," he shouted as loud as he could, convinced his voice was loud enough to be heard throughout her little house even from the outside.

Loud, faint footsteps were heard behind the door before they got louder. The door swung open to reveal Vivian with raised eyebrows as she looked slightly agitated. She heaved a sigh after looking at Oswin and walked out of her house while closing the door behind her.

"I don't even know where this place is that you have your weird radio, but I'm not going to ask," Vivian said as she hopped on her own bike. Oswin followed suit and got situated on his own.

Oswin ignored her previous comment and asked, "Why weren't you answering Walkie Talkie?"

"I didn't know how! You never showed me. You literally told me 'Dustin told me about these' and gave me one and scurried off to meet Robert Bradford at the arcade," she explained hurriedly as she tried to keep up with Oswin's fast peddling pace.

"Did I really?" Oswin had forgot what happened, but he could recall going to the arcade with his friend Robert to beat his high score on Pac-Man.

Vivian looked at him as if he was out of his mind, though he couldn't see because she was behind him. "Yes! You did! What, you think I just pulled that out of my ass, Ossie?"

"Well, no— wait, the opening! There's the opening that the tower is in," Oswin cut himself off.

"Why do you act like you discovered something never known before," Vivian chuckled.

"I forgot where it was for a second, shut up."

The pair of friends turned into the opening that was on the side of the road they biked on, a load of trees surrounding the large patch of grass. Oswin hurriedly set his bike down and ran over to look for something behind one of the trees. He pulled out a large tarp-wrapped object and carried it over to Vivian.

"You just keep it here? Ossie, what if that thing gets stolen? And shouldn't it be in a case or something," Vivian asked. A hint of worry was detected in her tone, but Oswin chose to ignore his friend's concern as he could most likely just create another one.

"My mom doesn't like things like this in the house, remember. And uh, the case was stolen. I had to use a tarp instead," he muttered.
