Caleb P.O.V.
My cell phone rang and I looked at the caller id.
Zoey was calling me.
Oh now she wants to talk like an adult or better yet listen instead of bite my head off.
I told Zoey the truth about Angela and all she did was flip her shit and go off on me.
She barely let me get a word in before she was lighting into my ass.
I couldn't take it. I just had to leave before I said something I would regret.
I drove for awhile with no real destination. Then I ended up parked outside her place.
I knew I shouldn't be here. I knew I shouldn't do what I was debating on doing. But if Zoey was just going to think the worst anyway and not trust me what did it matter anymore anyway.
I unlocked my car and got out.
I left my phone sitting in the cup holder.
I closed the door and locked my car then headed upstairs.
When I got upstairs I took a deep breath as my hand rose up towards the door.
Before I knocked I wondered if I should just turn around and take my ass home.
Fuck it!
I knocked on the door.
Shit!
I shouldn't be here. This is a mistake.
I turned to walk away and head back down to my car.
As I took a step away from the door I heard it unlock.
I stopped and turned around as the door slowly opened.
When I saw her face I was shocked.
"Angela what the hell happened?" I asked concerned.
Angela's face was bruised and her lip was busted. I also noticed her neck seemed bruised as well.
"Caleb what are you doing here?" she asked shakily.
"Tell me what happened to your face?" I asked ignoring her question.
"It doesn't matter... I'm not your problem," Angela said.
"Angela did Jeremy do this to you? Where is your daughter?" I asked.
"My daughter is with my mom... and yes... Jeremy did this to me," Angela admitted.
I balled my hand up into a fist.
Seeing Angela hurt and seeming almost helpless pained me.
No woman deserved to be beat like this. No woman deserved to be so mistreated by a man that claims to love them.
"Pack a bag you're coming with me," I said.
"Caleb-"
"Now!" I demanded.
Angela nodded and quickly went to get some of her things.
A couple minutes later she came back with a duffel bag and we left.
We went downstairs and got in my car and I drove away.
"Where are you taking me?" Angela asked.
"You hungry?" I asked.
"I could eat," she said quietly.
I headed to this diner that I knew about not too far away. They were a hold in the wall place but had good food.
