Skylar's POV:

When I woke up, I was surprised to see myself completely pressed up against Caden. I remembered falling asleep with him on the other side of the bed and me, on the other side. Caden had even promised he won't touch me. Not that I made him promise. Like, I had no problem with him sleeping close to me.

But I was surprised when I woke up and saw that. One of his arms was around my waist pulling me completely into him. While his head was nuzzled in the crook of my neck.

And I'm pretty sure I was blushing red by then. I mean, I've never slept with anyone before. Not as close as this, anyways. Except Chicken, of course.

I knew he was still asleep because firstly, his way of breathing said so. And secondly, he'd himself said how it had been quite long since he'd slept properly.

On the other hand, I kind of liked this. Placing my arm lightly around his torso, I relaxed against him.

Until I heard the sound of the landline ringing.

I would totally have ignored it only if I hadn't known who'd be calling. I'm sure that was either mom or dad. And if I didn't pick up, I'd be hearing speeches about my sleep. Because it was past noon right now and my family was a big box of morning sunshine.

Except me.

Cursing internally, I carefully pulled away from him until I was up from my bed. It took everything in me not to go back and curl up against him.

God, why did it feel so good?

Rolling my eyes, I ran downstairs and picked up the phone.

"Skylar, I'm assuming you already did your breakfast?" Mom asked in a I-already-woke-up-hours-ago voice.

"Yes, mom." I grumbled. "What's up?"

I was trying my very best to sound cheerful right now.

"Nothing really. Except I was calling in to check if you really are not considering to come at the after-wedding party?" She asked.

It wasn't just Cole, the whole idea of parties scared me. Especially, with strangers who loved interfering in your personal business.

"Nope. I'm fine where I am." I said.

"You never really did miss any such parties, Sky." She pointed out.

The same reason why I was not going.

"Yeah, I don't really feel like coming to this one, mom. I have this assignment to complete too." I said, which wasn't a lie since I really had a Calculus assignment. But I wasn't planning to do it today.
