KIM WAITED FOR A good twenty minutes whilst The Director to go and retrieve Spider Man. Meanwhile, Maria had told her that they knew Peter Parker ─ that's Spider Man's real name ─ wouldn't agree to ditching his school trip in order to fight some monsters. So, Kim would have to blend in as one of the students and hopefully convince him to help out. Pretty simple.
When Fury did arrive with Peter, he was dressed in his suit but without the mask considering he already knew that everyone in the room was aware of his secret identity. He walked a few steps behind Fury, still unsure of himself and his role in the room which was clear from the worried look across his face.
Kim herself was stood patiently waiting against one of the brick walls in the underground canals of Venice, her arms crossed and a serious look across her face. The pair walked towards the center of the room where a projection hovered above a table. Quentin Beck immediately stepped forward and stuck his hand out for Peter to shake after the younger of the two had mumbled something that Kim had failed to hear.
"You handled yourself well out there, I saw what you did with the tower." Quentin smiled, causing Kim to remember the scene that she had seen unfold on the computer earlier that day. "We could use someone like you on my world."
"I'm sorry your world?" Peter said in such a confused voice that it made Kim smile a little. She could tell from the way that he was looking at Quentin that he admired him already ─ wether it was his plate of armour with glowing lights, or his bright red cape, it was obvious that Peter looked up to him.
"Mr Beck is from Earth, just not ours." Fury said, walking past Peter towards where Kim was standing, still with that stupid smile on her face. He took a seat in the chair before his computer where he switched the projection to be a picture of a planet.
"There are multiple realities Peter, this is Earth dimension 616." Quentin told him, trying not to shock him too much. "I'm from Earth 833."
"I'm sorry." Peter took a step forward ─ damn this kid apologies a lot, Kim thought to herself. "You're saying that there's a multiverse? Because I thought that was just theoretical and that changes how we understand the initial singularity and we're talking about an eternal inflation system and how does that even work with all the quantum─ it's insane!"
Kim's goofy smile grew even wider as she watched Peter nerd out the same way she had done (to herself of course) after discovering that the multiverse truly did exist. She wanted to slap herself to stop her inner nerd from wanting to freak out with him, but she managed to keep herself under control. Peter was grinning too now, smiling at Quentin, at Kim and then at Fury who looked at him with a raised eyebrow. It wiped the smile straight off his face.
