I see you in the distance,
a rainbow waiting to disappear
into a background of blue.
I watch you as you fade,
memorizing your place in the sky,
with eyes that still see you there.
Sitting in the grass,
my soul prays for rain
to bring you back again.
The memory of you dims,
unaffected by my hopeful gaze,
finding new beauty where you should be.
