The next few days were spent finishing up last minute priorities at home before they headed to Chicago. Kaycee spent time studying and doing extra work in classes so she wouldn't fall behind, while Sean was working on his piece until the day of.

Their plane was taking off at 6 in the morning, so Sean was invited to stay the night at the Rice house — in a separate room, due to Brad being there. Laura woke up early to be sure both the teens got up on time, and she drove them to the airport.

"I can't believe I'm not going with you two," she explained. "It's so crazy to me. You really are all grown up," Laura cooed. She parked in the parking garage and offered to walk them inside to make sure they knew where to go.

As they approached security, Laura stopped to give them both goodbye hugs.

"Love you both so much," she said, taking her time with each hug. "Take care of each other, okay? Let me know when you land and when you get to your hotel."

"We will," Sean said. "Thank you."

"Love you mom," Kaycee said, giving her mother one last hug as they parted ways.

"This really is our first trip together, isn't it?" Sean remarked, holding onto her hand as they stood in line for security.

"It is," she winked. "We get an entire hotel room to ourselves, babe."

"Usually I'm the one making inappropriate
jokes," Sean leaned in and whispered, cautious of the people around. She only laughed, giving his cheek a kiss while she leaned into him. They got through security quickly, making their way to the gate.

Once sitting down, Kaycee rested her head on his shoulder, closing her eyes. "I'm so tired," she mumbled.

"I know, baby," he said softly. "Sleep on the plane, I'll wake you when we land."

He smiled. "I promise."

The two were waiting at the terminal for almost an hour when they finally began boarding. The plane took another twenty minutes after boarding, to finally take off. Kaycee immediately rested her head on his shoulder and fell asleep the minute they took off. Sean got comfortable and laid his head on hers.

Kaycee slept the whole plane ride, her exhaustion taking the best of her. Sean knew she had been staying up late to study and catch up on work, which made him feel guilty of not doing that himself. He was too caught up on his piece that he had disregarded his work, even with his mom's daily reminders.

Sean nudged his shoulder to wake Kaycee, tucking the loose curls behind her ear.

"Baby," he whispered. "We're about to land."

Her eyes fluttered open, smiling lazily at him as she cuddled more into him. His fingers laced with hers, his lips kissing the top of her head, as they both stared out the small window.

The passengers got off the plane after it landed and walked towards the terminal. Sean's hand gently secured Kaycee's as they made their way to baggage claim, waiting patiently for their things. Once with their things, they called an Uber to take them to the hotel.

It wasn't a long ride, and before they knew it, they were at the front desk of the hotel grabbing their keys. Kaycee immediately fell onto the bed the minute they made it into their room, letting her eyes close. Sean walked over and laid himself down next to her, running his fingers through her hair.

"You can't be tired, Kayc," he chuckled. "You slept the whole plane ride."

"I just need another nap," she mumbled, leaning her head more into his hand. He dug his fingers deeper into her hair and earned a sigh of content from her.
