Chapter 14: Surprise!

~~~~~~~~~~~{Noel's Point of View}~~~~~~~~~~~
Sky, Tony, Steve and I stood out front of Stark Tower at eight thirty am. To be honest, I was terrified. Not of this Starlie person, but of anything and everything. I was jumpy, yesterday I'd managed to let a rival agency steal all of our secure files and shut down our entire network.
I hadn't gotten any sleep, I'd stayed up with Tony and Bruce working on rebuilding the software and network systems with a new and more complex firewall that I'm not sure even I could get through. I was running on pure coffee right now, I had a cup of double espresso in my left hand, I was afraid if I put it down for a second I'd fall asleep and everything would go crazy again.
"Elle, sweetheart. I think that's enough coffee for today." Tony said, taking the espresso out of my hand and replacing the emptiness with his own hand.
"But..." I protested weakly.
"No buts. You're so hyped up on caffeine you're shaking." Tony chuckled, "And I thought I had a coffee addiction."
"Your blood is twenty five per cent caffeine, Tony." I replied, smirking, wondering if he'd bite.
"So we're back to the twenty five per cent thing, hey?" Tony smirked, grabbing my waist. I felt a little awkward being so affection with Tony around Sky and Steve, but they didn't seem to be noticing, they were too wrapped up in their own little bubble to even care.
"Told you, I wasn't going to be that subtle." I winked as he leaned down and pressed his lips against mine very lightly, teasing me. He pulled away a little so he could speak. His breath tickled my nose.
"Once we're done here, I may need to take you up to my room and..." He proceeded to describe in remarkable detail what he was going to do to me.
It left me speechless.
I blinked at Tony turning bright red, so red I thought my hair was going to change colour. "I...uh...um...eep." I squeaked nervously.
Tony chuckled, smiling, "I'm only joking, Elle. I know, you want to wait."
I sighed, relieved, before kissing him full on the lips as a thank you.
It was exactly nine AM went a cab rolled up and a girl, about twenty years old, with blonde hair streaked with purple stepped out with a small suit case rolling behind her.
"Ross." The girl pushed her dark tinted sunglasses up onto her head, nestling in her blonde hair.
"It's Evans now." Sky corrected, her voice cold as ice.
"Lets cut to the chase," The girl, who I presumed was the infamous Starlie, said matching Sky's tone. "You don't like me, I don't like you. We both know that you wouldn't have contacted me if you weren't in deep shit with someone so who is it?"
"S.P.A. They hacked into S.H.I.E.L.D's network stole everything then crashed the system." Sky explained bluntly.
"So, you need me to help you get the files back." Starlie mulled this over for a moment, pursing her lips together, before nodding. "I like a challenge. Count me in."
"Great. Hi. I'm Noel Barton." I smiled sticking my hand out to shake hers and she took it,
"Starlie Banner." She replied before realising her mistake, her eyes growing wide.
I faltered, stepping backwards. "Wait...Banner?"
Steve caught on too, "Are you Bruce's sister?"
Starlie's face turned beetroot red as she stared at the ground. "I'd rather not talk about this until Bruce is around. Will I be working with him?"
"Yeah, you'll be working with all the Avengers." I told her, "They're all upstairs, except for Thor."
"Great. Shall we go meet them?" Sky butted in, pushing past Tony and I, holding Steve's hand and leading Starlie into the Stark Tower.
A few minutes later, after an incredibly awkward elevator ride, we met all the Avengers around Tony's massive dining room table and Starlie introduced herself.
"Starlie Banner. Former S.P.A Agent, current gun for hire -temporarily working for you guys." Starlie shrugged. I looked at Bruce's face for any kid of reaction. His eyes almost popped out of his head.
"Star, you might want to explain the whole...last name thing." Sky told her awkwardly.
"Oh right!" Starlie exclaimed before smiling and waving at Bruce, "Hi daddy."
Wow, the nerve on this girl. I thought.
Starlie, from what Sky had told me, was an incredibly gifted assassin and had some personal issues that had gotten her kicked out of the S.P.A. She seemed confident enough, almost like a mini-Tony...only a girl. And blonde. And she was proving everything I'd heard about her to be right.
"Daddy?" Everyone stared at Bruce who had been stunned silent.
"You remember Rachel Wood right? She's my mum." Starlie continued. "It's not that big of a deal guys, I mean, would you have been surprised if I told you I was Stark's kid?"
"Nope." I agreed with her.
"Hey!" Tony exclaimed and I gave him a look.
"Right, well." Bruce had managed to find his voice, "Um..."
"It's okay, Bruce. We'll talk later." Starlie said.
Sky cleared her throat awkwardly, sitting on Steve's lab. Normally, I would had found that incredibly odd considering we were in an official meeting, but since there was a lack of chairs and the pair were dating I thought it was cute.
"I called Starlie in for back up. She knows a lot about the S.P.A and how they code their files. I thought she could help us get the files back."
"I could have done that," I told her, "I hacked into Stark Industries, the S.P.A would have been a piece of cake."
"I have no doubt that you can get through the firewall, it's the files I'm concerned about." Sky said, "They name everything differently, I was never taught the code -I never ranked high enough to know that information, but Starlie was."
"Whoa, back up." Tony said looking at me, "You broke through my firewalls?"
"About four times, yeah." I nodded, giving him my best impersonation of his famous smirk -and by the look on his face, I was pretty sure I nailed it.
Authors Note: sorry for the lack of updates on this lately, I've been pretty busy planning and writing a new story called the Marvel Games, but I've worked out pretty much everything for they now so I'll start spreading my time to work on both stories :)
How did you like this chapter? To be honest, this is probably the worst chapter I've ever written for the Metallic Series, so sorry about that :/
So, Starlie has an interesting family history! And if you're wondering, she was pre-hulk so she doesn't have any gamma radiation effecting her.
Next update coming soon!
Until the next installment; comment, vote, like!
