15th December 2924

8:49 am

Three years passed, but little changed for Lysandra, or Dawning Square as a whole. She had been moved into the advanced class at school years ago, but it was the same old pro-Marshall syllabus, just with harder questions. The only real difference was being in the same class as Michael, and this was a mixed blessing. Not that it really made any difference, considering that he would graduate next summer.

Lysandra had changed in appearance as well, with early growth spurts making her as tall as her aunt, although it wasn't saying much. She had a horrible feeling that her body had finished growing completely.

"So, you and Michael seem to be getting along fairly well" Noted Victoria, stirring her tea. Opposite her, Lysandra sunk slightly in her chair, trying to avoid her aunt's gaze.

"I put up with him" She said, bluntly, staring at the wall of the apartment.

"I thought there might be something going on between the two of you" Said Victoria, with as much smugness as her emotionless voice could muster.

"Like what, exactly?" Lysandra did her best to keep her voice calm "He's still a Marshall-worshipping goon, like everyone else in this place."

"Like us?"

She turned to see Tom walking towards the table, standing behind his sister.

He had been busy lately, but refused to tell her what the work was all about. From what she had gathered, it had something to do with an underground train, whatever that meant. It probably wasn't important anyway.

"No, no, of course not" She said quickly "You two are great, really." She sighed "But sometimes the people here can be a bit... much"

"I know, I know" Said Tom, chuckling "But they're holding the annual dance on your birthday, and you need to take someone"

She longed to take Borislav and Kaelyn with her, but her aunt and uncle still didn't know she even visited them, and Marshall would never allow such 'filth' into Dawning Square.

"Michael already asked me, and I guess I don't have much choice. I'd rather go with him than with anyone else"

"You'll enjoy it" Said Victoria reassuringly "It was where I met my husband, back in the day..."

Lysandra still remembered the rumours Borislav had hold her of Victoria's husband's death. It generally resulted in an awkward silence whenever the man was mentioned.

"What happened to him?" She asked, slowly and deliberately "I know that he was the old leader of Dawning Square, but..."
