A couple weeks later, I had stopped in Mandy's hometown and decided to stop by a couple places to buy her a couple things that reminded her of home. I stopped when I saw a guy staring me down. He looked like he was angry about something. I didn't want him to be in my way.
As I go to exit, he stands in the doorway.
"Excuse me," I say.
"Let's chat, Zak," he says in a mad like tone.
"Can I help you?"
"Ask Mandy. She'd know."
It took me a moment to realize what he had just said to me. Did he just say to ask Mandy? I then felt nothing, but rage take over me. Unable to make another sound, I push him out of the door and on the ground. Aaron kept telling me to get up, but I couldn't. Something had taken over me. I was pounding on him.
This was her ex she told me about.
Aaron pulled me off of him as he began to question the guy. He told us that he was her ex. Great, confirmation. Aaron then asked him why he stopped and talked to me. He told us that he had found out about her pregnancy and was pissed I got her pregnant. He then had the nerve to tell me that she deserved to stay a skinny bitch.
Aaron had to pull me away from him before I could put my hands on him once again. As we got on the bus, Billy and Jay stopped talking and saw me shaking.
"Yo, what's wrong, dude?" Billy asked.
"Trust me, bro. It's just better to not talk about it right now," Aaron spoke.
Yes, they deserved an explanation, but now was definitely not the time to do so.
A couple days after Zak returned home, he had seemed off. I asked Aaron what had happened and he didn't want to say mainly because he thinks Zak should tell me. I kept bothering him about it until Zak stood up and asked me to be left alone.
"What the hell, Zak? You finally get home and you act different. You finally get home and you're distant. You get back and I'm wondering if it's all my fault. What is going on!?"
Zak stood there in the kitchen staring at me with eyes filled with emotion. He was upset. He shook his head, followed by running his fingers through his hair.
"Mandy, just please bear with me, honey," he whispered.
"What do you mean?" I begged.
"When I was in your hometown, your ex got in my way. He started saying let's chat and sounding angry about it. He then tells me to ask you and that you'd know. I got angry and started to punch the fuck out of him.
"Aaron pulled me off of him and then asked him questions. He knows your pregnant, Mandy. He told us that you deserved to stay a skinny bitch. I haven't been able to control myself because I hear those words over and over again."
I took a moment to realize what Zak had just said. My ex had caused me so many problems. I felt as if I couldn't live without him, but I overcame that. I found a place and move in there by myself. Two months later after I had officially moved on, Zak calls and I fly out here.
I don't need him. He doesn't need me. He doesn't care for me. Zak gives me unconditional love. He treats me like a queen. Zak does the smallest things that mean so much to me. He and I act like best friends, yet he is home. Wherever Zak is, that is where you will most likely find me. I looked up to meet Zak's gaze.
"Zak, do you love me?"
"Do you believe that this relationship is going to work?"
"Of course," he says.
"Alright. Do you feel like wherever I am, that is where they will find you?"
"Absolutely," he states.
"The reason why I ask is because I would rather spend the rest of my life with you than to be with that dick again. I came out here to work with you. If he was so important in my life, I would have stayed."
He smiles greatly.
"Baby, I know."
