Chapter Fifteen

When Zak got home, he found me sitting in silence. He knew that wasn't normal.

"Babe, are you okay?"
"Zak, why are we together?"
"Because not only do I love you, but you're home to me," he replied truthfully. "Why are you asking me this?"
"It got me thinking when I was chased today. If we really want me and the baby safe, then why are we together? It's just going to cause more issues," I stated, almost in tears.

He sighed deeply.

"Is that what you want?"
"I don't know," I cried. "I just don't want to be chased by people who don't care about me and care about their paycheck!"
"Baby, what do you want? What does Mandy want?"

He had sat next to me, staring at me with worry in his eyes.

"I want you," I whispered. "I want our family."
"Okay, then don't leave me," he whispered. "You're home. I don't want you to go again."
"Then what do we do?"

He took a moment to think.

"Okay, listen and hear me out. Let's go somewhere secluded and stay there for a while. I'll still leave and go do investigations, but we can't stay here while you're in the spot light."
"I like that idea, but where?"
"Where do you want to be?"

I smiled. When I thought secluded, I thought mountains. I had thought of a cabin home in the middle of the mountains and just listening to nature around us. When I told him, he smiled.

"Then pack your things. That is where we'll go."

I thought he was kidding.

I had booked a cabin in the mountains like Mandy had said and we had to take a flight there. She sat by a window and had already fallen asleep. Holding her hand, I watched the clouds outside. They were peaceful. Mandy has requested that we'd get fishing poles and our fishing license. I told her that she could, but I wouldn't. She laughed. I thought seriously mainly because I didn't want her to be on her feet too much and I was going to be gone a lot. It's why we brought Gracie.

When we landed, Mandy was super excited to get to the mountains. As we approached to the cabin, she rushed in and looked in every room with Gracie. It made me smile. She then noticed a guitar and began checking it if it was in tune. Once she tuned it, she began playing it and it was beautiful. She even played and sang Watch Over You by Alter Bridge. It was beautiful and I let her do her thing while I went to unload the car. Mandy would probably move here. If that's the case, I'd move with her.

Mandy seemed to be happy as she sat on the porch with Gracie laying on the ground next to her. She stared off, watching the rain fall. This is what she needed. No press following us, no TMZ, no issues, nothing. Just my girls and me. I decided to sit in the chair next to her and hold her hand.

"Zak, this is perfect," she began. "Thank you."
"Anything for you," I said, kissing her hand.
