In the seven months Sierra had worked at Georgia Acuarium she had yet to see a thing like this.
Working alongside the veterinarian had had it's perks. Walter often remarked how quick she had developed an eye to spot all sorts of unusual reactions coming from the species in the tanks, and of course bragged about his abilities as a teacher.
But right then Sierra couldn't help but think even a newbie would be able to tell that the tiger shark in front of her was definitely experiencing one of those.
She had been coming to check on her every day since they'd brought her in three days ago. Brett, the aquarium's owner, hit cloud nine when his cousin caught the large fish by accident when they were fishing at Fernandina Beach in Florida. The poor thing had been left a bit shaken after she found herself all tangled up and moved out of her environment, still, her wounds were minor.
Brett wanted her recovered by the end of the week so she could be moved to a real tank and they could promote the new attraction. Sierra, who had been entrusted to her care, wasn't so sure it would be possible. The shark had refused to eat anything from the moment it was taken in. And the way the fish circled the tank like a rabid tiger didn't help matters. She refused to place the fish in the exhibition tank when she was behaving like that. There was a sleepover scheduled for the weekend and having the new shark in the tank was out of question. Sierra always adhered to his rules, but this time she was ready to make him see reason. He wouldn't like it. Yet the way she heard Walter talk about the animal assured her he would take her side if it came to it.
There was no way to know how the fish would react once she was transferred. They hadn't had much time to study her conduct, however it was noticeable from day one that it couldn't be anticipated. She was still unsettled, executing sharp violent moves and threshing the water. There was a huge risk that the change would affect her, and there were also the visitors to think of.
What would people do if they saw a tiger shark crash against the glass and go at it again and again making you think it wouldn't be long before it finally gave in?
