Review:
I love the idea that it is a creature from the sea and not just zombies or some plague. The description really had me intrigued before reading and was well done.
I would say that there are a few grammatical errors, which is probably why you stated that you are editing. When you edit I would actually add a chapter or two before all chaos breaks loose so we can get a feel of the characters.
When you are writing, I would also make sure to break up some of the sequences of sentences into separate paragraphs because some of the action was lost in the middle of the paragraph and I had to go back a reread because I felt like I had missed something.
I love the style and tone of that opening chapter because it made it really intense. I think you could push it a little farther with some of the ideas that I mentioned.
