Elizabeth’s POV

As I was packing one of my bags of clothes and toiletries, I heard my phone go off on my bed. I quickly reached over and answered it.

“Hello?” I sniffled quietly.

“Babe, are you alright?” Harry asked and I felt my heart drop.

“Yea, I’m just packing”

“Alright, um I’ll pick you up okay?”

“Yea, just pick me up a few blocks down”

“Sure thing love, I’ll see you in a bit” he murmured and hanged up. There was a knock on my bedroom door and I stopped immediately and soon felt a lump in my throat start to form.

“Elizabeth, it’s me. Can I come in?” My mom asked. I sighed, relief that it wasn’t my dad.

“Yea, come in” I said and she clicked the door open and stepped inside closing the door behind her. My mom’s eyes moved over to my bag that was on my bed filled up with my clothes.

“You’re leaving?” she asked. The look on her face was evident that she was heartbroken that I was leaving but to be honest I just don’t feel like I have a choice.

“Yea, I think it’s for the best. It’s just until things calm down” I said zipping up my bag and placed it on my shoulder. “Besides, I’m going to start college soon so I would have to move out eventually”

She nodded and walked over and wrapped her arms tightly around me, I immediately did the same.

“I am so sorry sweetheart” she sobbed and I tightened my grip around her.

“It’s not your fault mom” I whispered into her neck.

“Sweetheart, at least promise me that you will keep in touch with me” she whispered and I nodded.  “You should go now, your father left a few minutes ago to cool off”

I released my grip around her and kissed her cheek before walking out. It’s not that I didn’t want to look at her face one last time; I just knew that if I did I would change my mind.

As I walked down the street I started to immediately regret not putting on a jacket. I could feel the chilling air creep in under my long-sleeved shirt, which was the only thing that I was wearing. Besides, my skinny jeans and an old pair of worn out white converse.

Occasionally, the wind would blow my hair all the way back or onto my face. The rain splattered around me causing my whole body to shiver. I crossed my arms over my chest rubbing my hands on my upper arms trying to give myself some sort of warm friction. I could feel the coldness of the grey wet payment beneath me through the bottoms of my feet.

I kept walking down the streets under the dim florescent lights, and deep down I know that I should be thinking about everything that has happened. However, I can’t bring myself to do so. There are so many thoughts running through my head that I can’t seem to make up just one coherent thought to focus on.

I looked up and saw Harry’s car parked down at the end of the street, with the window wipers and headlights on. I quickly ran towards him ignoring the numbness in my feet as the cold rain splatting against my face. He opened his door and jumped out of his car running over to me meeting me hallway. I slammed into him causing him to lose his balance but he regained it back quickly and wrapped his strong arms around.

“It’s okay baby” he soothed rubbing his hand up and down my back. I clung onto him as tightly as I could, feeling the warmth of his body radiate onto mine. “Let’s get you inside the car”

I released my grip on him and he reached down to grab my hand and walked me to his car. He opened my door and waited for me to climb in before shutting it behind me.  I leaned back into the leather seat and watched him quickly jog around the car and climb in onto his side.

I could feel my teeth chatter and he reached over and turned on the heater pressing on various buttons that were lit up by the small glow in the dark figures that were painted on the surface.  Harry looked at me and he shrugged off his coat and placed it around my shoulders as I rubbed my hands together trying to get rid of the numbness in my red fingertips.

The car ride to his place was quite, I really did not have the energy to speak. Even if I did I wouldn’t even talk about what happened and luckily Harry figured that out and didn’t ask me any questions about it.

“Here” Harry said handing me one of his green bath towels. I took it and started to dry my hair with it as Harry moved across his bedroom and sat on his bed on the tangled up white sheets.

I felt a bit better now that I have changed out of my wet clothes and placed on one of his sweatshirts and grey sweatpants. I had my own clothes in my bag but Harry didn’t even bother with it. He wanted me to get out of my wet clothes before I could get sick.

After, I was done drying my hair with the towel; I walked into the bathroom and hanged it on the rack for it to dry.  I climbed lazily onto his bed and lay my head on one of his white pillows and covering myself with the sheets all the way up to my neck.

Harry looked down at me and gave me a small smile. “Would you like me to make you some hot chocolate?” he asked. Harry knew that hot chocolate was my favorite drink to have whenever I wanted to relax.  I simply nodded at him, he leaned down and pecked my lips and got up from his bed.

“Are you still cold?” he asked stopping in his bedroom doorway tilting his head to the side.

“A little” I answered back in a small voice. Harry walked over to his closet and took out one of his blankets the folded up on the top shelf then swiftly walked around his bed to my side and placed the blanket over me.  I slightly smiled back at him in response, it was one of those smiles when you know you’re upset but you still give off a tiny of the tiniest smiles that you can manage.
