Chapter Five

I woke up to the bed shaking and it wasn't an earthquake. Zak sat on the edge of the bed with a death grip on the edge, causing the bed to shake violently. I crawled over and rested my hands on his shoulders which caused him to jump.

"Baby, what's the matter?"
"I'm just angry. I don't know why, but I am."
"Could something be affecting you?"
"Maybe."

He then tried to lunge at me when I stuck my foot out and stopped him from coming any further.

"Whoever you are, you need to leave Zak alone in the name of the father, the son and the Holy Spirit. You are not allowed to be in this house or around this man. In the name of god, leave now."

About that time, Zak stood to his feet and stopped shaking. His angry expression had calmed down. He wrapped his arms around me tightly.

"What would I do without you?" he smiled.
"You'd suffer," I joked.

Zak laughed and then got on top of me just to kiss me as passionate as possible. Wrapping my arms around his neck, he leaned into me more. When he took his lips off of me, he smiled at me.

"What?" I laughed.
"You're the best," he responded. "I'm going on the road tomorrow. Come with me."
"Okay. Let me get packed first."

Zak then stood to his feet with his hand extended out. Grabbing it, I nearly lost my balance when I stood on my feet. Zak caught me. Quickly kissing him, I rushed to the room I was supposed to be in and quickly packed some things. I pulled my suitcase out to the living room while Zak watched.

"Do you need help?"
"No," I groaned. "I got it!"

Hearing him laugh, I returned to him where I just stared at him.

"What?"
"It's not funny," I told him.
"I'm sorry. What can I do to make it up to you?"

I just walked back to the bedroom and went back to bed. I felt him get in slowly, wrapping his arms around me.

"Goodnight," he whispered.

The next morning, Zak was already up when I woke. He was on edge and didn't seem like himself. I went straight to the coffee machine and poured me a cup before I realized that it tasted terrible.

"Zak, is everything okay?"
"No, I don't know how to make coffee like you!"

I laughed and began dumping the coffee out and doing it my way. Zak ended up getting on the phone and calling a few people. I felt as if everything was stressful for him. As he got off the phone, I handed him a cup.

"Everything okay?"
"I'm just stressed. I forgot Bill was coming and then a few of my crew members are getting sick. I just don't know what to do!"
"Zak, you've got me. I'll call Bill, ask him if he can come early, okay? You finish packing."

He took a deep breath, gave me a kiss and and went to the bedroom. I ended up calling Bill.

"Hello?"
"Bill, it's me. Is there anyway you can come early?"
"I have nothing going on right now."
"Perfect! I am so sorry about the change of plans this fast, but we didn't expect a change of plans either."

Bill laughed.

"It's okay. I understand. This big old fool understands the way of life," he continued to laugh.

It made me smile. Zak entered the living room as Gracie closely followed happily. Those two were stuck like glue. Zak fell on his couch as Gracie found a place to curl up near him. I could live with this.
