Twirling her pen between her fingers Scarlet stared at the young girl across the breakfast table as she took a drink of her juice and went back to reading a book. The sad truth was she didn't know much about how Juliet worked, sure she was small, clumsy, and sweet. But there was so much more to her that she hadn't figured out yet.

Did she read often? Or was she avoiding something? Blocking everyone off mentally to not deal with her problems. She couldn't judge her for that, not with the second glass of mimosa in her other hand.

Leaning back in her chair and crossing her legs Scarlet never took her eyes off of Juliet. Not even when her daughter put her arm on the back of her lovers chair as she spoke to Juliet's mother.

Scarlet wasn't dumb.

She knew something happened, and she knew it upset Juliet enough to avoid her. Juliet looked her in the eye. She told her the truth, so to see her chew her breakfast slowly as the dragged her fingers along with the words on the pages Scarlet felt betrayed.

Her daughter had swooped in and...

Well Scarlet didn't know what she did, but Juliet wasn't the same person.

Breaking out of her haze the blonde smiled at whatever her husband said as him and Juliet's parents got up. "Are you sure you don't want to come?"

"I wouldn't want to miss my massage."

Chugging his drink down her husband waited impatiently as Delilah bent down to talk in Juliet's ear. She put her hand on her forehead and then her mother did the same.

"You May have gotten to hot at the beach yesterday sweetie. Just get some rest and drink a lot of water ok?"

"Ok mom."

"Can I please stay with you baby?" Delilah asked taking her hand into her own.

"No no, you go have fun with the dolphins."

Scarlet raised an eyebrow as she watched Delilah kiss Juliet's head before walking off with her mother. Leaving the two alone at the giant table.

"You're sick?" Scarlet finally spoke keeping her voice monotone. "With fever or guilt?"

Looking up from her book Juliet almost looked like she wanted to cry. So the blonde narrowed her lips and furrowed her brows. "I- did something." The girl finally spoke closing her book carefully.

Waiting for her to continue Scarlet twirled her pen some more.

"And I don't know if it's the right thing or if I messed up." Juliet placed her head in her hands and squeezed lightly.

Scarlet closed her eyes and braced herself.

"I think I slept with Delilah."

Stopping the pen the blonde held it tightly as she searched Juliet's face. the young girl's eyes filled with water and her hands shook as she tried to hide her mouth. Biting her own lip Scarlet cleared her throat. "You think?"

Brushing her hair back Juliet nodded and looked around at the dining room where people started leaving. "Apparently we got high and I can't remember anything after that. All I know is that we woke up naked the next morning together."

Clicking her pen slowly The older woman took a deep breathe. She took a minute to stare down at the crumbs left on her plate from her breakfast sandwich. She thought long and hard before getting up and pushing her chair in.

Juliet hide her face in her hands as tear drops fell on the cover of her book.

"Scoot over."

Looking up Juliet wiped her tears and moved so the woman could sit next to her.
