Arayah stretched her tiny arms and whined loudly as Ava changed her diaper. It had been three days since she was born and yesterday, she was finally able to go home. The doctors had told Ava that Arayah was born earlier than she was supposed to, so they did a few check ups before sending her off. Ava could of sworn that she'd carried her for a year, though.
"It's okay my sweet baby," Ava softened up her voice and bent down to lay several kissed upon Arayah's smooth face.
"She alright?" A shirtless Blue said, coming into their room with a warm bottle of Ava's breast milk and a bib wrapped around his neck.
Ava looked up at him and laughed. "You look stupid as shit."
"Shut up, its daddy duties time. Let me see my lil ma," he walked over to them and gently picked Arayah up. Her eyes lit up like the 4th of July at the bottle he held, "Damn, she love this damn titty juice."
Ava laughed and nodded. "Yes she does. I would breast feed, but I'm just so tired." She sat on the bed and made herself comfortable under the covers.
"I know, just lay down. I got this." Blue sat on the bed and put the bib over Arayah so her fresh cloths wouldn't get messy. "Hey lil mama," he kissed her forehead as she blinked at him with a slight grin on her face. "You want this milk huh?"
Ava chuckled, "say yes dada, mommy ain't feed me yet." She reached over and softly rubbed Arayah's feet.
Blue begin feeding Arayah and stared into her eyes. If only my mom and sister were here to see this. That was the only thing that ran through his mind. He was a father of two now and couldn't share that joy with the people he started out with. It was a shame, he thought.
Ava yawned and continued to play with Arayah's tiny toes. She was madly in love and overjoyed with her. She wouldn't trade her for nothing in the world. Actually, she wanted to give her the world. But, she knew that she had to work. Even though she had Blue, she didn't want to sit around a depend on him.
College. College, is where she wanted to go. She wanted to get a degree and become a Dentist. Something she wanted to be since a child. She knew that she could do it because she's gotten this far already. Losing her dad and grandmother, being taken advantage of, graduating with 3.8 GPA; having a baby. There was nothing that she couldn't over come.
"Babe," Ava broke the silence.
Without looking away from his daughter, Blue answered, "wassup?"
"I still wanna go to college," she spoke her mind.
"What's stoppin' you?" He raised an eyebrow.
She sighed and sat up against the headboard. "I don't know... I have a kid now and I wouldn't want to be away from her, ya know? I also don't know what college I wanna go to."
"I'll take care of her." Blue shrugged. He always told Ava that she can do whatever she wanted as long as she put her mind to it. He never wanted her to feel obligated to stay in one place to satisfy him, or to be a house wife. He knew that she was a go getter and he wanted her to fulfill her dreams.
Ava playfully twisted up her lips and sucked her teeth. "You? Take care of Arayah? Alone? Without me? No sir," she shook her head.
"Damn, what you tryna say?" Blue looked over at her.
"First of all, you're very busy and you barely have time to sleep let alone take care of a baby. Second, who's gonna help you when I'm not around?" She raised her eyebrows, waiting for an answer.
"Ava, I don't need nobody to help me with shit. If I say I got it, I got it." He said.
"Please, baby you ain't even know what a contraction was."
