Life’s a bitch and then you die, that’s why we get high, cause you never know when you gonna go.
Theodore took a drag, blew out the smoke and passed the blunt to Max.
Max had two redeeming qualities: good taste in music and weed. The latter being the only reason Theodore was currently in the boy's bedroom. Well, that and the need to escape his own.
His mother had looked pleasantly surprised when he'd announced his departure, if only she knew he'd only left to get high.
He loved the irony of it all, maybe because it wasn't directed at him for once.
Quite a petty sentiment to have, but acting petty and sarcastic was what Theodore excelled at.
Max handed him the joint again and leaned back in his chair, "Do you think I should become a drug lord? I mean, I've got great potential and I'm freaking done with school."
Theodore almost choked on smoke when loud laughter bubbled up in his throat mid inhale.
Max had the appearance of a twelve-year-old church choir boy, and a disposition to go with it. He was innocent, the only reason why he'd even begun his side job was in hopes of finally getting invited to high school parties and making a friend or two.
His new-found friendships were superficial, (the one he shared with Theodore was, at least) but Max didn't seem to either be aware or care.
Most likely it was the former.
Max couldn't read social cues very well, and had a hard time trying to decode the nuances of sarcasm.
Theodore- a boy who practically ate, slept and breathed sarcasm- found it sometimes difficult to interact with Max because of that.
Jokes fell flat, and having to explain them didn't make them any funnier.
Max was a lot less socially inept when high, however.
"A lord." Theodore said, "sounds fancy, I'd say go for it."
Max just grinned in response.

I tried to get a/this chapter up during pride month, oh well.
I hope it's been a month filled with love, pride and acceptance, and I hope that this month and all the ones to come are too. ❤
I also want to thank you for all the support you've been given me. It makes me unbelievably happy. ❤
I wish I could update more often and write longer chapters, but this one will have to do for now. Hope you liked it, 😅
Thanks for reading!
