Let's start with production, okay? DeVante, babes, take a seat! Now, on a production tip, and a completely unbiased one at that because it's Prince over everybody (DeVante clearly included) it wasn't bad AT. ALL. In fact, De did a pretty alright job... slightly mediocre though. He played it safe but, a little too safe. The synth layer at the end was actually my favorite. Everything else? Eh. Good. Which is... okay but, it's like... this the edge of his prime, you know? Imagine a kid who is usually an A student. The lowest they get is an A-, right? Freshman year their doing regular A's and then sophomore and junior year they slamming out A+'s BACK. TO. BACK. Then, senior year, they are depressed, unmotivated, distracted, and things aren't going as planned at all next thing you know, they start slowly slipping to A's and A-'s... that's DeVante in a nutshell. (The A's turned to D's and F's by 2015 but, that's another conversation.😭) So, it's really like... De did good but I expected better. We definitely could've done without his musty ass "pain't the perfect picture" speech and left it to Mariah, okay? DeVante is safe in this.

Mariah, you're next. Let's chat. The vocals? Not bad at all. Actually, she delivered too with the exception of the vocal arrangement in certain sections. Some of the notes were not sitting well with me at all. I get the idea of a deceptive cadence and you think I'm going this way? PSYCH! BROKEN ANKLES. CALL ME A.I. type of notes but... the way you ended that last Baby in the second verse? No way, Jose. You did quit well, queen. Superb vocals. Don't be so extra sometimes. We have beef because how did you get production credit???? And how is DeVante's musty ass breathing still there if he had nothing to do with it? MKAY. I REST MY CASE. Not to mention, DeVante left his dead give away... the bass. If you know Da Bassment, Swing Mob, or just DeVante/Jodeci in general then you know what I'm talking about. De's bass always... I can't explain it. You just gotta know and listen.

Now Dru Hill. Honestly, y'all are a very large part of why the song is not any good. Voices not blending with Mariah's, Sisqo did too many damn adlibs, and all in all... y'all had nothing to offer to the function. YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN THERE. THAT IS REALLY IT. I'd say no offense but... all tea, all shade, bitch all offense. I meant every word. Dru Hill is a good 75% of why the song is jacked. Sisqo doesn't sound bad, he just does NOT belong. Not gonna lie, I kinda liked his do you want him or do you want me moment but he just sounded like K-Ci so, if that is the case, DeVante could've just got K to do it. Whoever decided Dru Hill was the fit needs their ass kicked.
