Chapter 6

Five years since I joined vidacom and this is my first time at the 13th floor of the building. The media floor of vidacom is more or less a very large room filled with recording equipments, cameras and people running all over the place making sure the company looks good in the public eye.....

....."cut!!"... "What in the name of God do you call what the fuck you just did?"....  " I'm not even an actor and I can do better that this shit of a performance you just pulled!".....
...... "Can somebody in this room please get me an actor that can actually act?".... I had never seen Emeka barking orders before. Never picked him to be the type....

..... "well hello best friend!", Emeka's face lighted up the instant he sighted me.....  "How nice of you to drop by" he said spreading his arms wide as he theatrically walked towards me. Emeka had always had a larger than life aura about him, but there was something about seeing him bark out orders that made him more endearing....

"You didn't come by my office this morning which is unusual", I said as we locked into a tight embrace....

"Uuuuh Somebody is missing me" he teased with a wide grin on his face. "When I say you can't live without me you'd always think I'm joking"....

" how does this translate into me not being able to live without you oga?" I asked, my hands still wrapped around his waist.....

"Just admit it".... "you're secretly in love with me"....

" hian!"... "Emeka you play too much abeg"...... "You didn't come by my office this morning so I figured I could return the favour since you almost always come by every morning".... " how are you jor".... "Hope you're good?" I asked as we proceeded towards his office.

"Why wouldn't I be good?".... " I get to see you everyday, I just have to be good"...

"This one you're being all flattery this morning".... "I hope I'm safe"

"Madam nobody is pursuing you".... " just accept the compliment and feel good"..... "There mustn't be an ulterior motive to every compliment"....

"OK sir!"...... "Compliment accepted", I replied as he opened the door for me to enter into his office.

......"quite a nice space you have here" I said, genuinely impressed with the furniture and tidiness of his office....

"It gets better" he replied winding up his window blinds....

"And you have a view of the ocean!" I squealed ... "You rascal!"    ..... "You know how much I love the ocean view"... " how come you never said anything about it?"

...... "Element of surprise my friend" Emeka replied, his face beaming with pride...

"But wait, how come you get to have a view of the ocean and I don't?"..... "not fair"..... "I strongly perceive some gender inequality shit going down in this company", I bemoaned.......

"OK slow your roll there baby girl", emeka protested " why does everything have to be about gender subordination to you?"...... "And besides this ocean view comes with the job"...... " the old owners believed it helped spur creativity"...
... "Care for a drink?" He asked as he walked towards the refrigerator just by the office door.
.... "Vodka?"
.."wine?".... "You can have a soft drink too if you're not up for it" he said, peering through the brands of drinks in the refrigerator...
