My rainbow after the storm

"Chris!" I called from the bathroom. I waited a moment before calling his name again.

A second later the bathroom door opened and Chris held out a roll of toilet paper.

"What's that?" I frowned.

"I thought you needed TP." He looked confused.

I shook my head and nodded towards the sink.

He looked at me for a moment and then nodded his head towards the sink.

"No." I shook my head and nodded again at the sink.

He raised his eyebrows and nodded his head towards the sink, "What are we doing?"

"Look on the sink!" I cried laughing at him.

"Is it a bug? Do I need a shoe?" He hesitated.

"No! It's a pregnancy test!" I jumped up and grabbed the positive test from the sink and held it out to him.

"What's the 2 lines mean? Does this mean?" He looked at me and then down at my stomach.

I nodded with a smile.

"You're pregnant? I got you pregnant? We had sex at the right time?" He stuttered.

I laughed and nodded again.

"And you're sure?" He looked at the test again before picking up the box with the picture guide.

"I'm sure." I confirmed. "I'm late." I shrugged.

"Woooooo!!!!" He yelled loudly the sound of his voice echoing off the bathroom walls.

"What's wrong?" Scott called from down the hall before walking towards the bathroom shoving the door further open.

I pulled my towel tighter around me but couldn't help the happy tears as they slid down my cheeks.

Chris looked at me waiting for the ok to tell Scott. I nodded.

"Bree's pregnant!" Chris grinned.

"Shut up. You are?" Scott pushed the bathroom door all the way open shoving Chris to the side, he pulled me into a hug.

I laughed, "Ok Ok, Get out. I need to get dressed." I started to wave them out.

"Yeah." Chris frowned pulling Scott back. He took me into his arms and kissed me quickly. "Get dressed and then come straight to the living room. I want you laying with your feet up. Do you understand?"

I laughed again wiping the tears from my face. "Ok." I agreed. Chris gave me one more smile before walking out and shutting the door behind him.

I made an appointment immediately for Dr. Davis. Chris and I sat nervously in her office after the exam.

"Well congratulations." Dr. Davis grinned as she came into the office and sat down. "Like I said during the exam, the ultrasound shows you to be around 6 weeks." She grabbed a pregnancy calendar wheel from her desk and spun it around calculating dates. "Giving you a due date of November 6th."

Chris squeezed my hand and I tried to swallow back the nerves.

"So we won't being doing much here in the beginning. We will start with ultrasounds every 2 weeks when we get to about week 16. I also think we'll probably start with progesterone shots once we enter the 2nd trimester."

"What does she need to do till then?" Chris asked.

"I want her to rest and not push herself to hard. I want her to try and stay as stress free as possible." She smiled at me, "And if at anytime something doesn't feel right, no matter how small, call our office immediately."

I nodded feeling more anxious.

"I do want you to limit physical activity. No gym. Probably shouldn't have much sexual intercourse." She added.

"What?" Chris frowned.

I shot him a dirty look and pinched his hand.

"Sorry." Dr. Davis chuckled.

"For the whole pregnancy?" Chris wanted to know.

"Chris!" I hissed.

"No I think when we get into the second trimester and we see how she's doing we might be able to lift that ban." Dr. Davis laughed.

"Ok." Chris seemed content with that answer. I rolled my eyes with a smile.

We left the doctors office and Chris took me back to work.

"Maybe you should quit your job." Chris said as we pulled into my office parking lot.

"What? No way." I shook my head. "I don't want to be home all day. I'll go crazy. Plus I love my job."

"But the doctor said no stress. And your job can be stressful." He pointed out.

"I will talk to the partners, ok? I'm sure they will be ok with me taking it easy for a little while."

"What about after the baby is born? I just kind of figured you'd be a stay at home mom."

"Really?" I asked.

"You don't think so? Isn't that what we were thinking... last time?"

"Maybe."

"Well we don't have to decide anything right now. Just consider it, ok? I mean how cool would that be you and baby could come visit me on set whenever for however long you wanted."

I smiled, "Ok I'll think about it." I leaned across the console to kiss him goodbye. "I love you."

"Love you. I'll see you tonight."

The weeks slowly went by. Kirsten found out she was having a boy. Her due date was the first week of September and we were thrilled that our babies would only be a couple months apart. I did exactly what the doctor ordered me to do. I tried to take it easy, started taking half days on Friday's at work. Chris wouldn't leave my side through the entire first trimester. When we finally passed the 12-week mark and moved into the 2nd trimester I felt a little less anxious. Bi-weekly ultrasounds became the norm at 16 weeks. Everything looked good and Chris and I couldn't have been more relieved or excited.

We were at our bi-weekly ultrasound appointment at my 18th week when Dr. Davis asked if we wanted to know the sex of the baby.

"You can tell?" I asked squinting my eyes at the monitor.

She nodded, "I can show you if you would like."

Chris nodded, "Yeah let's see it."

I nodded in agreement.

"You are going to be welcoming a sweet little baby.." She wiggled the doppler across my stomach, "boy."

"Hell yeah!" Chris pumped his fist in the air.

I laughed as my eyes filled up with happy tears.

"A boy?" I whispered.

Dr. Davis nodded, "And Breelan he looks perfect. Keep doing what you're doing." She put the doppler up and handed me a towel to wipe my stomach off.

"A boy." I turned to Chris who was over the moon giddy. I smiled thinking of a miniature Chris running around the house."Oh boy... We're in trouble." I laughed.
