Reaching For Hearts, Minds, and Souls

A poet lives a life of words and game;
Feet metering words into thoughts displayed;
Readers hence wooed to taste of love dismayed,
As such, and like a man, takes wife by name.
The different words express thoughts the same.
Metaphors, similes randomly sprayed.
Lyrics and ballads just free verse arrayed.
Always, the poet is the one to blame.
Poets can twist, and sweat, and squirm, and yell
With lines aligned, and feet metered with rhyme.
A poet writes till tears flow down their face.
A touch of the heart will save them from hell.
To touch a thinking mind will get them time.
To touch the soul will have them blessed by grace.
