The group soon had Appa inside. He opened his mouth and Aang pointed at the bison's teeth and at Long Feng's mark.
King Kuei nodded. "Yup. That pretty much proves it. But it doesn't prove this crazy conspiracy theory." He glanced at Tu Cho. "Though, I suppose this matter's worth looking into..." He began to walk away with his gaurds. "Miss Tu Cho, would you please walk with me?"
Tu Cho quickly followed. "Yes, your majesty?"
"You said you were a fortune teller. Can you tell me what mine is?"
"I can only see so far and everything is subject to change based upon your actions. Would you like to know what I see today?"
"You only see today?"
"I'm sorry your highness," Tu Cho apologized, "but you are going to make a choice today that could change your prospective and influence your further actions. I can predict several hundred ways that tomorrow could happen but it all relies on what you do today."
"Is fortune telling really so complicated? I thought everything we did was predetermined?" King Kuei said sounding intrigued.
"Nothing is ever set in stone, Earth King Kuei." Tu Cho shook her head. "The only thing we can be sure of is that one day we will die. It is up to us to make up our path to that point."
~~~
It wasn't too long before everyone except Aang and Appa were on a train headed towards Lake Laogia. Many passengers were shocked to see the Earth King standing in the middle of the train cart surrounded by guards.
King Kuei was feeling very strange as he never before had a need to use public transportation. He'd never been out of the palace. "So this is what a train is like? I didn't realize it would be this... public."
Katara asked, "So you've never been outside the Upper Ring before?"
Kuei looked out the window. "I've never been outside the palace." He pointed to Aang flying on Appa. "Now that's the way to travel." He looked at Katara and Sokka. "So, may I ask where we're going?"
"Underneath Lake Laogai," Toph responded. "To the Dai Li's secret headquarters."
Sokka was confident in his plan. "You're about to see where all the brainwashing and conspiring took place."
~~~
They were soon at the shores of Lake Laogai. The team stood on the shore beside the Earth King and his guards.
"It's not there..." Tu Cho whispered to herself, half surprised.
Toph stepped to the edge of the water, and with a hop, revealed the the secret path to the hatch door entrance, though discovered it had been destroyed. "It's gone!"
Katara wasn't happy. "The Dai Li must've known we were coming and destroyed the evidence!"
King Kuei was skeptical. "That seems awfully convenient."
Sokka said, "Hey, if anything, this proves the conspiracy exists even more."
"I think Long Feng was right. This was a waste of time." He turned to leave. "If you'll excuse me, I'm going back to the palace. Tu Cho? Are you coming?"
"With all due respect, your majesty," Tu Cho said, intending to keep to the promise she made, "that is far from the end if you will allow us to continue."
Aang hopped in front of the king. "If you come with us to the Outer Wall, we can prove to you that the secret war is real."
King Kuei was appalled. "No Earth King has ever been to the Outer Wall." He stepped past Aang. "I'm sorry I won't have you in my service, Miss Tu Cho, but I don't have any more time for this nonsense."
Sokka ran up. "If you come with us, this time you can ride on Appa."
The king gladly accepted.
