"No–– no, Taylor. I like you a lot. I like her, too." Taylor seemed to realize what this was about and he pursed his lips, "I know this isn't fair."
"It's not." Taylor repeated.
"I can't ask you to wait," He took Taylors palms in his, "I really like you. I like you so much but I also like this girl who doesn't even know who I am and she's always coming by the pet shop where I work–– I don't know why I like her but I do. I want to date you but I can't do that when I like her."
There was a panicked look in Reid's eyes and Reid wondered if he had said something wrong.
"Taylor, if you're worried that I'll stop liking you then don't worry. I like you so damn much. I love talking to you. I like hearing your voice and my face always breaks out into a smile when I read your texts. I think of you all the time. But I also think of her and I don't want to be unfair to you or our relationship. I promise, I'll kiss you when I'm ready, if you're still into me, we can––"
"Tell me what the girl looks like." The question was said in a eerily calm voice and Reid wonders why Taylor seemed so scary at the moment.
"She has black hair that's styled into a bob and she has blue eyes." Reid conjures up the image of the gorgeous girl into his mind, "She always wears full sleeved dresses."
Taylor sort of looks a little scared right then.
"What's her name?" Taylor asks as his voice shakes.
"Luna." Taylor covers his face with his palms and Reid's eyes widens.
His confusion doubles. The same black hair, blue eyes and pretty smile. The small face and the fact that they were so introverted. Oh my god–– Taylor wondered if what he was thinking was true. Didn't Taylor say he had a younger sister? Had he liked Taylor's younger sister by any chance? The confusion was evident in Reid's eyes. He decided that they needed to go. Trapped in a car with just all these confusions wasn't a good thing. So he threw on his T-shirt which was thrown on the backseat and he handed Taylor his shirt. Taylor looked up at Reid and opened his mouth to say something.
"I know." Reid choked out on the verge of tears.
"No, you don't." Taylor snapped and Reid stopped the car at the side of the road, "Listen to me, Reid. I told you I needed to tell you something."
"Tell me then." Reid waited for the heartbreak to happen.
"Luna is me." Luna is–– wait, what?
"Luna is you? What?" Reid asked, his eyebrows furrowing.
"I'm genderfluid. That's what I wanted to tell you." Taylor rubbed his palms on his thighs. Their skin was dry with salt and sand, "I usually don't feel feminine. Whenever I feel feminine, I dress up as a girl. If I need to go out, then I go as Luna. I haven't come out to anyone but my family so I can't go out in feminine clothes as I am."
"But you aren't so pale when you..."
"Makeup helps. How come I didn't see you in the pet shop at all?"
"I got too nervous." Reid's cheeks burned.
"I'm so sorry I didn't tell you, Reid. My parents and I fought about me dressing up as Luna. Some people in my old school found out and–– They didn't want that to happen again."
Reid kissed Taylor, a small peck and grinned.
"You aren't mad at me?" Taylor asked tentatively, "You aren't mad that I deceived you."
"No! I like you so damn much and the fact that I crushed on you two times should be enough. I'm just happy that I can date both Luna and you." Reid smiled and pressed a kiss against Taylor's cheek, "I can't stop kissing you. I'll have to know more about this genderfluid thing, Tay."
Taylor nodded relieved that Reid hadn't gotten angry. Taylor and Reid couldn't stop smiling. They drove home happily and when they stopped a little away from Reid's house, they leaned in and kissed. When they looked up, they saw two people kissing a little further and Reid rolled his eyes.
"I knew it." Reid huffed, "These two have so much to explain."
Taylor laughed and they waited for Simon and Oliver to stop making out so that they could pull out in front of Reid's drive way. He honked at his friends who looked sheepish.
"Where were you guys?" Simon huffed, "I heard it rained and we were worried."
"Oh, he's with his boyfriend." Oliver snapped which was a code for the fact that he was worried too.
"I see you're with your boyfriend, too." Reid said sassily and Simon sort of blushed and leaned closer to Oliver.
"Wait." Oliver paused, "You guys really started dating? I was just teasing you."
"Yep. Well, we haven't started dating yet, I need to take Taylor out on a date or Luna if––" he looked at Taylor and smile, "We need to go and shower, guys. We're covered in sand."
