Toby looked down at the ground, blankly. There were flashing lights and pretty red lanterns all around him. He was surrounded by people, laughing, smiling, happy people. There was music, games, an entire carnival happening right here, in this moment ... and yet he felt so isolated and alone. " Hey~! I told you i could get it!" Jack said, Holding out a little bag with a goldfish in it. Toby smiled, this specific one had a little brown spot on it's eye, and Toby bet Jack that he couldn't get it to keep him busy. He didn't expect the maniac to actually do it, or to take as little time as he did.

Jack hummed, tilting his head, " Are you okay? You look pale- well- more pale than usual-" Jack said. Toby nodded, " I'm okay- you know i sortof just .. dont get out much i guess" Toby scratched his arm. Jack shrugged, and they both resumed their walk through the area. They weren't from here, but they did their best to fit in with the other people. That's what drew them together, foreigners in another country, meeting up and having so much in common. and yet, " Hey- are you sure you're okay? You're holding lil Toby kindof weird-" Jack said. Toby tensed, not realizing that the water was dripping from the bag. " O-oh! sorry- and we're not naming it lil Toby!" Toby fixed the bag, tying it tighter. Jack grinned, " Yeah~? why not? i think it'd be cute- or are you scared it might replace you?" Jack teasingly said. Toby didn't reply, he was staring at the goldfish. It swam around in little circles, Toby wondered if it could breathe. Just living its life, not knowing that Toby could end it any second  ... any second. " Toby?" Jack snaooed his fingers. Toby came back to reality, looking a little guilty. He couldn't hide it anymore, he was extremely bothered by something and it was obvious but  ... he was so afraid to tell anyone. " We can go home- Toby?" Jack said, putting a hand on Toby's shoulder.

Toby sighed, " I dont really wanna talk about it- but- thanks for giving me an excause to leave the house- i really did need it" He said, continuing the walk. Jack let go, " Yeah- it- no problem-" He said, clearly a little lost for words. Toby looked around, not wanting to be a downer, " where do you think they light the fireworks at?" he asked. Jack shrugged, about to say he didn't know before a giant neon green light went off in the sky with a bang. "There! Toby Toby oh my god- let's go!" Jack said, grabbing his hand and running.

Toby couldn't help but smile, dropping the fish on accident as he followed Jack in his passion to see these honestly pretty Ordinary fireworks. They ran right out of the lit area, and into a park like space where people were gathered. There was low chattering voices, people holding hands and a few kids even. They were all gathered to see this, and yet Jack seemed like the most exited one here. Jack stopped running, looking around ad he held onto Toby's hand. There wasn't another firework, but Jack was sure this was where it was ... right? Toby shyed away from a few people, making open efforts not to touch anyone as he walked by. Jack noticed, with Toby's constant repositioning, and so he kept going until they were at the side of what looked like a large lake. Nobody was around, and Jack doubted that anyone could see them.

It was night time, and neither of them had ever seen fire flies before. The bugs buzzed around, and Jack finally let go of Toby's hand, watching him flinch away from the glowing beetles. " You're so c- uh- dorky- i swear" Jack said, looking nervously up at the sky. Another explosion went off in, bright beautiful pink flames shooting everywhere. Jack's entire face lit up, and his non existant eyes seemed to sparkle. Toby swatted at the bugs, gasping as one got too close and he fell back with a thud. Jack turned to look at him, "you okay? they wont bite you, i promi-" Jack stopped. Toby sat up, Looking away in the same way that a kid would look away after being patronized. Jack didn't say anything else, sitting down on the grass beside Toby. It was obvious, too obvious that Toby was badly hurt, confused, barely able to keep himself together most of the time. He couldn't help it, he started crying, "how do you stay so calm all the time? knowing that that thing could kill us- or that we're just his little toys- how do you live?" Toby said, wiping his eyes to the best of his ability. Jack was quiet, letting Toby continue, " I was so scared, all the time before i became what i am- and i'm still scared- it's like there's nobody that can help- no matter what i try to do it just  -" Toby bit his lip. He had spilled too much, and needed to collect his thoughts. " I feel so useless- " He mumbled, looking at the rippling moonlight across the water. Jack didn't say anything, he just moved closer to Toby. He did it fast, quickly moving over and kissing Toby softly, making him lift his head. Toby didn't know what to do at first, eyes wide open. Jack put a hand on Toby's cheek, and Toby put his arms around Jack, pulling away for a second to breathe, but still continuing. another firework went off in the background suddenly, and a big bue one, and then two twin yellow ones after that. Jack looked at Toby though, and only at Toby as Toby looked back at him.

Toby cleared his throat, "oh- uh- um-" He said, trying to figure out what to say. Jack grinned, leaning back onto the grass. "That's how i do it" Jack said. Toby blushed darkly, kicking Jack in the side enough to hurt just a little, " Oh my god! whats wrong with you?" Toby said. Jack shrugged, rolling away a little, " Man- i've been wanting to do that for so long-" he said. Toby pulled his knees to his chest, hiding his face in his arms. " Yah okay- That was my first kiss- just so you know assface -" Toby fell over onto his side, starting to shake a little. " I know- hopefully it didn't suck -" Jack said. Toby mumbled something, " It was fine- just be quiet-" He said. Jack sat up, looking at the little lake. Another firework went off, a little purple one, followed by six green ones. " Man- these are some weird patterns-" Jack said.

Toby looked over at him, "how can you be thinking about that right now-" He said, but Jack just shrugged. "I'm not- i'm thinking about you, but you're all embarrassed so i was trying to change the subject- " Jack said, and Toby sat up, throwing the pebble into the water. " yeah- they are kindof weird-" He said.

"you're weird"
"you're weird!"
