It has been 5 years since the events of Super Paper Mario. Luigi is still paranoid of anything that reminds him of Dimentio, but he's doing better. Blumiere and Timpani have been found, and communicate through letters with the brothers and the old minions regularly. Except for Dimentio. No one wants to talk about Dimentio. No one wants to think about Dimentio. But that doesn't change one simple fact; while Dimentio may be dead, The Underwhere is still a very real place where he is locked in chains for eternity. Though Jaydes keeps a watchful eye on him, Dimentio is still a descendant of a powerful sage... and has no desire to remain trapped any longer.
