~ Momo's POV ~
I ran up every flight of stairs. I was exhausted by the time I reached Yanagi's room. I reached for the handle. I turned it. Locked. I knocked on her door. No answer. Uh.. I knocked again. "Yana.." I said. At that moment, I heard a jagged sob tear through the door. I had made her cry. "Yanagi, I'm so sorry." I said, resting my forehead on the doorway. "Go away.." She whispered. I realized she was against the other side of the door. I slid down, sitting with my back flush against the door. I brought my knees up, resting my forehead on them. I didn't know what to say, where to start. But, sitting in this silence was killing me. "Can I come in..?" I asked. No reply. I lifted my head, and rested the top of it in the door. I stared at the ceiling. "I don't hate you.." I said, loud, so she could hear the apology in my voice. She stopped moving entirely. She stood up. I scrambled up, my chest tight, waiting for her reply. "There has to be a reason you said it." She said. I looked at my little sister's eyes. Gray. Shiny. I called them my galaxy, because they looked like the stars if you looked at them long enough. "There's got to be a reason, Momo." She said, her voice breaking. I felt the tears in my eyes. She turned and sat on her bed. I sat beside her. "There is a reason, Yana. I didn't want to die, that's the reason. You were always getting attacked and kidnapped and I didn't want that to happen to me." I said. "But, if it's with you, I'll do anything. Even die." I said, and I was shocked to feel her small but powerful arms around me. I hugged her back. Relief flooded my nerves, and I felt limp. "I don't hate you, I don't, I never did. I just said that to get you to stay away from me so I wouldn't die. And, to be honest, it worked. I'm so so so sorry, Yana, I'm so sorry." I said.
~ Yanagi's POV ~
My body shook as I sobbed when she said she didn't hate me. But I still didn't open the door. Then I stood up, calmed myself, and opened the door. "There has to be a reason you said it." I said. Her eyes flicked back and forth between my own watery eyes. My voice was ragged. "There has to be a reason, Momo." I said, and her name felt strange in my mouth, with my tone. We've never fought like this before.. I turned, my chest hurting from seeing the look of despair on her face. I sat on my bed, shaking, trying to stay composed. "There is a reason, Yana. I didn't want to die, that's the reason. You were always getting attacked and kidnapped and I didn't want that to happen to me." She said. My heart hurt. I know, Momo, and I can't blame you.. And what she said next made me sob. "But, if it's with you, I'll do anything. Even die." She said, and I hugged her fiercely. It made me so happy to feel her hug me again, after all these months. "I don't hate you, I don't, I never did. I just said that to get you to stay away from me so I wouldn't die. And, to be honest, it worked. I'm so so so sorry, Yana, I'm so sorry." She said, stumbling over her words, saying them too fast. I laughed. "It did." I said, pulling back, and wiping my eyes. "Are we best friends again?" She asked, holding out her pinky. Nostalgia flooded my system as I linked my pinky with hers. "Best friends."
~ Eleven years and Two months ago ~
~ Narrator ~ (Forgive my mistakes)
Momo was six, and Yanagi was five. (Momo is older by two months) They were playing outside, in a playground near their house, accompanied by Ochaco, when a group of boys with their quirks came and started bothering the girls. Yanagi had just recently gotten her quirk, and only know how to use it to an extent. One had spiky blonde hair, and the other two were not very memorable. "Get off of the swing, or I'll blast you into the sand box." The blonde threatened. Ochaco and Yanagi hugged tight as Momo stepped forward. "That's not very nice." She said. "I don't care! Get off the swing!" He shouted, lifting his hand, sending a blast toward my face. Momo made a quick plate, which broke upon impact, but shielded my face from the blast. The blonde's lackies took hold of Ochaco, then Momo. Yanagi was left in front of the little swing, frightened. "Move." He said. Yanagi took a glance at Momo and Ochaco. She stood taller. "No. I was here first. It isn't yours." She said. The boy threw his palm forward, but Momo ducked neatly, having learned that from her pro hero parents, Yin and Yang. She grabbed the boys foot, and pulled it forward. He fell backwards. He scrambled up, and ran with his fist raised, ready to attack small Yanagi. She ducked, and grabbed the floor. She threw it up around herself. She loved doing this, swimming under the ground, She squeezed around, took Momo and Ochaco under, then popped back up infront of the swing. The boy had been confused, and hadn't taken the swing. She stepped forward, reciting a phrase from her favorite movie. "I suggest you back off, bucko. Or things are about to get.." She let her little wings, horns, and talk show. "Dangerous." She said. "You don't scare me!" He shouted, and the lackies went for Momo and Ochaco again. Yanagi grabbed the floor again, and dragged it side to side, tripping all three boys. "Leave us alone or I'll tell your Mom!" Yanagi shouted. "You don't even know where I live." The blonde laughed. "I saw you come from the left." Momo said. "He lives two houses down from me!" Ochaco called. "Well, I guess we know where we you live now, huh?" Yanagi teased. The boy scrambled up. "F-Fine! We're leaving! Let's go guys." The blonde seemed flustered and irritated. They stalked off, the blonde glaring the whole way. The girls just stuck their tongues out at them, then laughed as they vanished from sight. "Thanks for protecting me, you guys!" Ochaco said, smiling. "Thank you, little sister!" Momo said. "You're welcome. Thank you for saving me from getting blastey's on my face, Momo!" Yanagi cried. "I'll always protect you." Momo replied, and held out her pinky. "Best friends?" She asked. Yanagi swiftly linked her pinky with Momo's, then smiled wide.
