Chapter 42- Daniel's POV
I wake up in the morning to utter silence. It feels as if I'm inside a recording studio where all the walls surrounding me are sound proof and nothing from the outside world can penetrate through them. That's when I sit up in bed and run my hands over the length of my face, feelings of intense guilt and regret flooding my system. I can now remember every single detail of last night's escapades and it ironically makes me feel sick to my stomach. I collapse back down onto my bed, realizing that I hadn't even bothered to change out of my clothes when I fell asleep. I lift up my T-shirt and bring it to my nose. Sure enough, it stinks of booze and someone's lavender scented perfume.
Wait---what? Why did my shirt smell like perfume? That's when I put the remaining piece of the puzzle from last night together and my stomach starts to fill itself with dread. No, no, no, how the fuck did I let that happen. And by that I mean, well, let me start from the beginning.
It all started at around six o' clock Friday evening. I was bored as shit, lying on the couch in our new basement, struggling to find something good to watch on TV, when Anthony came bounding down the stairs, putting me in a head lock.
"Ay, cut it out!" I yelled, batting him away from me. All he did was grin like the jack ass he was and said, "You wanna come down town with me tonight?"
I raised an eyebrow at him. "Whadaya have in mind?"
He put two fingers up to his lips and pretended that he was smoking. I got the gist.
"Aight, lets go," I agreed, reaching for the remote and turning the TV off.
"I told Luis and Roderick to meet us at the fountain in the center of town. Luis is bringing his cousins Carlos and Vincent with him too. You remember them?" He asked me as we made our way up the stairs.
"Yeah, I remember them. Carlos was pretty chill."
"A few more people might show up too and then we'll all go to The Pink Flamingo or something," he said, grabbing his car keys off the kitchen table.
"Nice, who else is joining us? Can I invite Nora?" I asked him eagerly.
I swore right then his entire body stiffened a little bit and then he shook his head. "I think you can go one night without her, can't you Danny?"
I shrugged. "Whatever, I'm guessing this is a no chicks allowed kinda thing then?"
"Not exactly," He smirked, and I tried not to swallow hard.
When he saw the hesitant look on my face he patted me on the back before slinging his arm around my shoulder. "Don't worry about it hermano," He told me, "Just relax and have fun."
It took us only ten minutes to drive downtown and find a parking spot a little ways down from where the park was. In the center of town was a freshly cut green with a large marble fountain in the center of it with several benches surrounding it. It was only six o' clock so it was still light outside, nevertheless, that didn't stop my brother from arranging a blaze fest with his closest buds. I pulled my black hoodie over my head and shoved my hands into my pockets, suddenly not in the mood for what my brother was planning. I found myself wanting to be with Nora, wherever she was. I felt like I hadn't seen her in forever.
"Ay, there you sons of bitches are," Anthony called out once we spotted Luis, Roderick, Carlos, and Vincent gathered around one of the benches.
"Wassup guys," Vincent smiled, and we all bro hugged one another and I gave Carlos an extra hard pat on the back.
"Daniel my mans," Carlos grinned, "I still remember the last time we chilled. That was pretty dope we should definitely hit that place up again."
"That's the move," I beamed back excitedly.
