I woke up to the sound of Oikawa's alarm blaring way too loud and early, even for a school day. I walked over to turn off his alarm to find the brown-haired boy was gone. I shrugged and climbed back into bed when the door burst open.
"SUGAWARA! WE MADE THE TEAM! WE'RE TEAMMATES NOW!" He shouted as he ran towards me and gave me a hug. I was shocked to see this side of him, as I had always seen him as serious and as my opponent. His overwhelming joy made me laugh as I hugged him back. "I'M GOING TO CALL IWA-CHAN!" he gleamed as he ran into the bathroom.
I laughed and sat back on my bed. I picked up my phone to call Daichi but realized it was way too early for him to be up. I sent him a short message that said "Call me when you get the chance" and decided to get ready for the day.
I only had two classes today, so I packed my bag for the gym before leaving the room. I was extremely happy that I made the team, but if I wanted to stay on the team I needed to get back into shape. As I walked to class, I felt my phone buzz in my pocket. I looked at the screen and smiled as Daichi's name appeared. "Hey Daichi, guess what!"
"Hmm, I'm guessing you made the team?"
"I did! I really didn't think I'd make it, but Oikawa helped me out so much. It was so fun to play again. I miss you though... and I miss being your setter."
"Aww, babe I'm so proud of you and I know you're going to do fantastic. I knew you were going to make it and I can't wait to kick your butt this season," he laughed. "Seriously though, I'm really glad you decided to try out. You always loved volleyball, but I know it was never easy at Karasuno."
"It wasn't easy, but it was the best 3 years of my life because I got to meet you," I smiled. I stopped outside of my building as I was a few minutes early to class and sat on a nearby bench. "Oikawa is surprisingly a really good person, or at least he is right now. I'm not saying we're friends exactly, but I think we might be getting there. How's your room situation been so far?"
"Wild, to say the least. The boys are great, but I got almost no sleep last night. Kuroo stayed up all night playing some game with Kenma, and Iwaizumi was busy yelling at Kuroo to be quiet. It's going to be a long year... but I think it'll be fun," he replied casually, but I could almost hear the faint smile in his voice.
"I'm glad you're having fun, love. I can't wait to talk to you again, but I have to head to class now. I love you so much and I'll let you know when I'm free," I smiled as I said my goodbyes. I went to my classes then headed back to my dorm to grab my gym bag.
When I got back to the room, Oikawa was patiently waiting at the table with his gym bag. I looked at him slightly confused. "I didn't want to go alone and I saw your bag on the bed so I figured I would wait for you and we could spot each other."
"Oh, um, okay. Let's go together, it'll be fun I guess," I laughed a little awkwardly. We were roommates, and even though I was starting to warm up to him, we weren't friends just yet.
"Suga, I know you don't trust me just yet, but I really do want to be friends. I miss Iwaizumi just as much as you miss Sawamura, so maybe we can be there for each other. Plus, we're going to be teammates. We're going to have to learn to trust each other at some point, right?"
I sighed, knowing that he was right, and grabbed my bag. I nodded as if to tell him "let's go" and headed out the door. I looked back to see him beaming like a puppy as he jumped up and trailed behind.
(What's up hoes, did you miss me???)
