The bonding 3
I was restless.
Completely and totally restless, I could feel something strange, something was different within me and I knew it. But- but I couldn't quite pinpoint what it was. And whatever it was, I knew it was growing, by every minute and every second.
I was scared to fall asleep, scared to even close my eyes for a second.
It was as if I would never be able to open them back up again. I checked the window, it was black as night outside, and that was exactly what scared me. The last time I slept off, I missed a whole morning of my entire life... Staying awake seemed like the only thing keeping me connected to my body. The only thing.
I paused from my pacing session at the sound of my name from a distance.
It was quite Loud but from a distance.
My head turned to my window. I opened it up quickly. Looking down, I found Cyrus waving for me to come down.
What the hell is he doing here?
I rushed down the stairs quickly but slowly. I snuck out of the house, hoping to God grandma didn't sense anything weird.
Sighting Cyrus, I halted few feet in front of him, he closed the remaining distance.
"What are you doing here? It's late." I said.
All he just did was stare, his eyes raked my face like he was just seeing me for the first time.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
"You- you look different."
"Ho-” I stopped, knowing exactly what he meant. "Pale?"
I noticed it too.
"Yeah... Pale and pretty."
I swallowed, trying to fight the heat that was threatening to run up my cheeks.
"What are you doing here?" I asked again, changing the topic.
I looked around, feeling like I was being watched. "Real?" I asked, turning to face him again. "What are you talking about?"
"What Mary said. It's real. I spoke to my mom... Her reaction when I called out Mary's name was enough-"
"You spoke to your mom?!" I exclaimed.
"What part of 'don't let anyone know about this' don't you understand? Nothing is wrong with me Cyrus! I'm fine, very fine."
"You're not taking this serious Emery."
"There's nothing worth taking serious. Do I look like someone who's missing a soul? Huh?"
"It's not exactly displayed on the forehead, is it?"
