I'm currently a college student studying Professional Writing and English. The version posted here on Wattpad is from my sophomore year in high school. It's time for the story and characters to grow up with me.
I've debated removing Skin Deep from Wattpad back and forth for months, as it might hinder publication chances. It took a vacation this year, and yet I felt like it belonged on this site. Seeing new readers discovering it now has been bittersweet, as this story will always hold a place in my heart; however, I know it could be so much more than what's available here.
When the timing is right, I want to try and publish this book traditionally. Hopefully, I can leave this sloppy, innocent first version available online. Once I'm finished with it, it will be an entirely different work, even if it still tells the story of blank John Montgomery finding his way in a world where everything you say appears on your skin.
How can you help?
1) Help me decide possible changes - PM me here on Wattpad
I'm petrified of losing the heart of this story as I progress. My rereading notes contain a long, long list of things I want to change. If you've just now read this story or it's been three years, your insight is invaluable. If I can bounce ideas off of you, please send me a PM here on Wattpad.
2) Serve as a beta reader for the third, new draft that will never be published on Wattpad - email me at greyzonepages[@]gmail.com (without brackets around the at symbol)
This role comes long after the first role. I am a member of a critique group here on campus, so I don't need proofreading or line editing. All it would entail for you is just reading the next draft like any other book, and offering your reactions and thoughts as a reader.
If you have any other questions or comments, please don't hesitate to PM me here on Wattpad, or email me. This never would've been possible without readers like you.
