"C'mon lets do it," said Lexi. "you need to learn how to have some fun for once in a while." I rolled my eyes, Lexi is always bothering me about not being adventurous and daring like she is. I have known Lexi since kindergarten, we have been together through some many things. Usually Lexi gets the both of us in to trouble and I am always the one getting us out of it. Lexi has never had any limits she always pushes other people. Unlike her I am the one who balances out the friendship. I am more cautious and worried about the trouble we get in to together. Lexi is always lives in the moment, while I like to plan things and look forward to the future.

"I don't know Lexi this seems pretty risky, even for you." I can hear her sigh through the phone after I finish speaking. She never listens to my reasoning, as long as she thinks she can do it, she can. "I was supposed to stay in tonight with my family. My mom is annoyed that I am spending so much time out of the house." Even though my mom wants me to expand my social circle, she constantly gets on my case about being out of the house too much.

"Holland do you really want your mom controlling everything that you do?" I shake my head no. "Well then what is the problem? I want to have some fun tonight and I know you do too."

"Of course I want to have some fun tonight, but I also haven't spent a lot of time with my family in the past few weeks. We have gone out every single weekend since the school year started." I told her. It's true every weekend we do something new, but it always turn out the same. At first we go out and do something exciting and over the top. But at the end of the night we are at the same parties, just with different people.

"I promise this party will be different," she says reading my thoughts. "we are going to have so much fun tonight I promise. You can just come for the beginning if you don't like it then we can leave. Please just come with me. " She begs me through the phone.

"Fine," I say giving in to her. "but we have to leave if I want to." I can hear her squeals through the phone, which make me smile. She always gets so excited over these type of things. She thanks me and then we say our goodbyes and hang up the phone. I roll over in my bed and check the clock, it is almost four now. I get off of my bed and go down stairs to find my mom. As I walk in to the kitchen a sweet aroma fills the air, my mother is baking again. She loves to bake, although she usually doesn't have the time to bake because of all the work she does. She works at a law firm in downtown Chicago. She has always admired the city and wanted to move there, but my father did not want to raise kids in the city.

"Hey honey," my mother says as she greets me with a warm smile. "who were you talking to upstairs?" of course, the questions. My mom loves to ask questions, she is always very suspicious about what I do.

"It was just Lexi, she wanted to know if I could sleepover at her house tonight. We have a project to work on for psychology." My mother's face wrinkles up, she doesn't want me to go out tonight. "The project is worth almost thirty percent of our grade and is due on Monday." I add to try and strengthen my argument.

"I guess you can go out tonight but I would have liked to have a family night." She says as she slightly softens her face. "But if it is for school, I guess we can have family night some other time." she says reluctantly. I give my mom an appreciative nod as I pull out my phone to text Lexi and tell her that I can go tonight.

I have always had an extraordinary gift for lying to people. My lies are what help me get Lexi out of trouble most of the time. Ever since I was a child I had the ability to lie. I would mostly tell little white lies when I was younger to keep me out of trouble, but lately my lies have grown. Very rarely do I find myself caught in a lie, I am a quick thinker so I can usually change my story to dismiss other people's suspicions. Lexi texts me back telling me that to be at her house by six so we have to get ready at her house.

I say goodbye to my mom and head back upstairs. I pass my little sister Jen's room as I am walking. She is five years old and going through her princess stage at the moment. Her room is painted a bright rosy pink color, and she has some picture frames hanging on her walls which are covered in sparkles. I walk in to my room and grab my school bag. I dump out all of my school materials and store them in a box underneath my bed.

I stand up and walk over to my closet and begin pulling out some different outfits that I can wear for tonight. I have no idea what to wear, I have never been to a college party before. I neatly fold and pack several outfits in my school bag Lexi can help me decide what to wear when I get to her house. I also pack my makeup bag and a small over night bag that I won't end up needing.

I grab my bags and leave my room, turning off the lights and closing the door as I leave. I sneak past Jen's room and tip toe down the stairs so I don't have to stay and play with her. I love my little sister and her blonde pig tails, but I need as much time as possible to get ready for this party. I say one last goodbye to my mom and walk out the door and get in to my car.
