The magical life of the not so magical Theodore Ward (bxb)

Chapter Nine

Feet were weird, Theodore concluded as he looked down at his and Gabriel's. Gabriel had hair growing on his toes and Theodore smiled faintly. He liked finding little imperfections when it came to him, because in Theodore's head, Gabriel was almost godlike, and that wasn't healthy.

It wasn't a weird sentiment to have, though, when Gabriel was doing stuff only gods could, such as making it fucking snow inside his kitchen.

Despite all that and his good looks, Gabriel was annoyingly humble, and while he probably didn’t even know the meaning of the word, Theodore still felt slightly flexed on.

Theodore looked back up at his face, which was a bit more appealing to the eyes than his feet, "Are you trying to reenact Frozen, or some shit?" he asked, "can't 'hold it back anymore', princess?"

Gabriel let out a laugh, "Trust me, I'm holding back so hard right now." His eyes stared into Theodore’s intently, almost as if they were trying to reveal a deeper meaning behind his words.

Theodore had an inkling, but the notion was too absurd and uncharacteristically optimistic.

However, for a moment he allowed himself the idea of a requited love, when Gabriel's eyes landed on his lips. In that moment, Theodore didn't recognize himself. Even his voice sounded different, lower and not holding the usual sarcastic tone when he said: "The song says you should 'let it go', no?"

Gabriel's eyes snapped up to meet his, and this time, he didn't pretend to know what they held, too busy wondering when exactly he'd become so fucking suave.

"The song's a bit overrated, no?"

Theodore deflated. If their words had underlying meaning, he had just been rejected, hadn't he?

His cheeks flushed in embarrassment.

"The whole fucking movie is." he mumbled as he brushed past Gabriel, out of the kitchen and back into the summer's heat.

He angrily brushed the snowflakes out of his hair and tugged at the strands in frustration.

Feelings were fucking overrated
