Chapter1

I park my car, a blue dodge neon, in the student parking. Capstone High School appears gloomy in the darkness of the morning. The storm clouds don't help with the mood. The wind is starting to pick up causing my long brown hair to blow in my face. Why did I have to leave it down today?

I grab my bag and my coffee out of my car and head into the school. The hallways are filled with students rushing to get to class. Some couples are in the corners get their last minute kisses before class. Other students are running down the hall to get to the south end of the school. I turn and head up the stairs. The lights flicker when I head to my first block. Everyone is mostly in class by the time I take my seat.

My best friend turns to me when I sit down." Emily, Are you ok?"

"Yeah, why do you ask?" I give her a confused look.

"You just seem.... different." She sits there with a puzzled look.

"Kelly I'm fine. It's probably because it's cold out. The wind messed up my hair too. So I bet I look like a beast." I laugh half heartedly

"No it's not that uh never-mind." Kelly turns to face the front when my teacher Mr. Taylor walks into class.

All the girls at my school think he's the hottest thing alive but who could blame them... He was 6'3 and tan with his dark brown hair, deep green eyes and ripped muscles who could say he was not gorgeous. All the guys liked him too because he was a cool teacher and most of them had him for a coach in one sport or another. But to me he was just my sister's husband.

"Ok class please pick up your warm up for the day and start with questions 1-5. You have 8 minutes starting now" Mr. Taylor says in his deep voice.

I look down at my paper.

Directions- find the error in the sentence and properly correct it.

Easy as pie. I think to myself. I finish all the problems in the first 5 minutes. Then I sit waiting for the class to finish. I look around the room. The tan walls are in most class rooms but Mr. Taylor has them decorated in sports flags and newspaper articles about the school and even pictures of us doing stuff in class. The walls are very entertaining to look at unlike a lot of my other classes.

Suddenly an alarm goes off. It's not the normal fire alarm one. It's more of a high pitch sound. I cover my ears. The noise stops.

Thomas who sits next to me turns to me and says " What the hell was that?!?"

"I have no clue." I tell him. "But that hurt my ears."

"I know it did but that was still so strange" he says

Not a second later an announcement comes." we are now in lockdown. This is not a drill. Follow procedure 315627E."

Mr. Taylor freezes, he almost looks like he's shaking. "Class go sit against that wall." he points to the corner away from the view of the door. We all get up quietly and go sit in the corner.

Everyone pulls their phones out but then Mr. Taylor says "all phones get turned off or their mine" everyone stops what their doing Mr. Taylor has never cared about phones before. The class puts them away. Mr. Taylor rushes over to pulls the blinds over the windows and covers the door and bolts it shut.

Our school never has bolted the door shut.

"Emily, what's going on?" Kelly whispers in my ears.

"I don't know Kelly, but we're going to be fine." I try to reassure her.

"I don't know Mr. Taylor looks really freaked." we turn to look at our teacher. The normally calm and collected teacher has an expression that look like he was being chased by lions.

Billy, my best guy friend, sitting behind me whispers "Procedure 315627E means there is a terrorist group invading our school." I slowly turn to him

"What?!?" I stare at him wide eyed

"Yeah, it basically saying that a group invaded our school wishes to do us harm." he chokes out.

The class goes quiet. We hear foot steps going down the hallway. They start out quiet then get louder the close till they stop. The door starts to shake.

A deep voice says "she's in here" Then the door is smashed open and 3 men walk into the room. They look over the class but their gaze stop on me. The man in the middle smiles and in his walkie talkie says "we got her"
