"What are you talking about, stupid?
"I mean, it's the obvious answer."
"Are you sure you want to go there?" Cody growls.
"Yeah, I said it, didn't i?
"Are you sure?" He warns, removing his arm from over my shoulders and diverting my attention from the movie. His blue eyes flash in warning.
"Yep," I reply, popping the "p" and a piece of popcorn into my mouth.
"Take it back!"
"Make me," I wink. Before I can say another word, Cody attacks. His arms wrap around my waist in a bear hug and he falls on top of me. I struggle to free myself from his prison arms to no avail. He's way stronger than me.
"Your squirming is futile. I've got you right where I want you," he taunts, now straddling my waist and pinning my arms above my head.
"Ew! Can you guys stop it?"
Giggling, we both turn to face the source of the voice: Chelsea.
"You guys are so lovey-dovey it's disgusting." She rolls her eyes. "I swear to God I will gauge my eyeballs out if you guys do this at Blake Winters this weekend."
Chelsea has one of those movie rooms with the entire room being a bed with a giant screen on the wall. She and Justin remain snuggled up together in one corner while Cody and I wrestle like children over who is the more badass superhero: Batman or Spider-Man.
"Also, it's obviously Batman. End of story," Justin pipes in.
"Thank you!" I exclaim.
"Chelsea?" Cody turns to her for a second opinion.
"Neither. It's obviously Wonder Woman. Talk about a powerhouse!"
"Looks like that's 2-1-1. Batman wins."
"Whatever," Cody folds his arms playfully in defeat.
"What do I get for winning?"
At this, Cody smirks. "Obviously this." He gives me a quick peck on the lips.
"Hmph." We both giggle and settle back into cuddling.
"Hey Sky," Chelsea inquires, "I have to pee."
"Then pee?" I respond.
"Come with me."
"O-okay?" I wonder what she has to tell me. Once we've reached outside the movie room, she leads me to her room.
"I thought we were goi---"
"Shhh," she shushes me. I shush.
"Okay, what's up?" I ask, sitting on her fluffy bed.
"What? Slow down." I tilt my head in confusion.
"Sorry," she takes a deep breath to compose herself, "Some of the kids at school are mad about you guys getting back together."
"Yeah, I know, and remind me why I care?" I fold my arms. What's her point? Of course people are mad about Cody and I getting back together, but why do we care what others think?
"Because I'm in trouble," she replies quickly, letting the words fall out before her brain even processes them.
"What's that supposed to mean? Since when have you cared about what others think about you?" Anger bubbles up inside of me.
"No it's not that. Look." She gives me a serious look before gesturing me to come to her desk. Opening a drawer, she points to a folded piece of paper. I pick it up and unfold it in disbelief. Written in black ink, there's a two-lined note.
"If you don't separate the southern lands from the sky before winter, the king will be ripped from her throne."
"What does this even mean?" I ask, confused at the note's ambiguity.
"Someone really doesn't like the two of you together."
Hello my lovelies. Sorry it took me so long to get this chapter out and sorry it's so short. We're moving into the climax of the story and I wanted to make it just right. At least we got some cutesy Skody moments in this chappie.
Question of the chappie: What does the note mean?
(If you're the first to get it right, I'll give you a shoutout in the next chappie!)
Also does anyone even read my author's notes?
See ya in the next chappie!
