Chapter 16: Wedding interruption

Hey there, here's the chapter I promised to update this week, hope you like it. I will maybe write the next story right after I finished this one, cause my writing is a great excuse for not being forced to play with my little clingy cousin (everyone actually thinks I'm doing homework but well, they don't have to know that that's not true at all 😅)

Sonic, Shadow and his team of knights and the two maids arrived near the castle around noon but they stood hidden in the bushes as they overheard some unknown knights speaking of capturing anyone who wants to enter the castle without an invitation and or if a group of knights should come back. They also heard that if they see a hedgehog with blue quills and green eyes they should kill him immediately. Realizing that those knights must be from Scourge's kingdom they kept on walking where they wouldn't be spotten.

"We have to find a way inside the castle, without anyone seeing us or we are dead meet." Silver said worried after a pair of knights passed by their hiding spot. "The only one who would be dead, would be Sonic, we only would be captured if they find us." Knuckles corrected. "Shut up Knuckles, no one will be captured or dead on my watch. Now focus on finding a way to get inside the castle." Shadow said glaring at the red echidna.

"Just follow me, I know how to get in." Sonic, who's feeling way better, said. "Where are we going." Blaze asked as they all followed after Sonic. "I'll show you something only me and Amy know about." Sonic said as he leaded them away from the castle walls. "That hasn't answered our question." Rouge said unsure where Sonic will lead them. They walked for about 15 minutes as they came towards a huge tree witch was surrounded by a lot of bushes. Sonic then started pushing the branches of the bushes away and a wooden door on the ground came into few.

"What's that?" Cream asked. "Looks like a door." Tails said curious. "But where does it lead?" Shade asked. "This my friends, is the door to a tunnel which leads to a secret entrance to the castle." Sonic said as he opened the door and hopped down into the small room underneath. "How the heck do you know about that, nobody ever told us about that." Shadow asked and everyone looked curious at Sonic.

"That's because no one except me and Amy know about it." Sonic said but was interrupted by Shade. "Not even the king?" "Nope no one except the two of us?" Sonic answered with a smile on his face. "Then how could you know about it if not even the king or queen knows about it?" Knuckles asked. "We found it a few months after I started working as Amy's personal guard. We were in the library as we-" "Never mind how you found it, let's get going already." Rouge said interrupting Sonic's little story. "She's right you and Amy can tell us about it once we stopped that wedding and kicked that good for nothing prince out of our kingdom." Blaze said and everyone agreed.

Sonic led his comrades all the way trough the secret tunnel, which had lots of crossroads in it, till they stood in front of a dead end. "Great job Sonic, you led us right into a dead end." Knuckles complained as he saw the wall in front of them. "Be quiet for once, will you." Sonic said as he walked towards the wall to their right and started searching for something. "What are you doing now?" Tails asked. "I think he finally lost it." Knuckles said but only earned a smack on the head by Shadow. "Quiet Knucklehead, he knows what he's doing." Shadow said and Silver nodded. "Ha found it." Sonic said as he pushed onto something and suddenly the wall, which blocked their way opened like a door. 

"Nice work Sonic." Blaze said as they all walked out of the tunnel. "Looks like we are in the library." Cream said. "Told you." Sonic said as he too walked out of the secret tunnel and closed the entrance with a push of a nearby hanging torch holder. "Now let's go find Amy." Sonic said and was about to speed off, but Shadow took a hold of his arm before he could ran off. "Not so fast, you walk so we can keep up. No running!" Shadow said and Sonic looked annoyed at his older brother. The group then walked in silence towards the church which was inside the castle. 

Not soon after they started walking they came across a group of guards. "Hold it aren't they the group of knights we are supposed to capture." The knight in the front asked. "We are doomed." Tails said as he and Cream hid behind Knuckles as they saw the knights who clearly were from Scourge's kingdom. "You are right, let's capture them at once." another knight said as they charged towards Shadow and his group of knights. 

Shadow and his comrades pulled out their weapons, ready to fight, and Sonic too was about to ran headfirst into the fight but was pulled back by Rouge. "Not you! You are still injured and need your strength to fight against Scourge." Rouge said as Sonic looked annoyed at her. "Yeah Sonic, let us handle this ... or just Shadow. " Silver said sweet dropping as he saw his older brother already took out two knights. 

Silver and the others where about to attack too but before they could even manage to fight at least one, their opponents were already defeated by Shadow. "You could have left some for me, you know." Knuckles complained as he too wanted to fight. "You guys will get your chance later, now come on." Shadow said and they were back on running to the castle's church, defeating some guards whenever they came across some, till they could see the doors of the church in the distance. Not able to be stopped by anyone, Sonic immediately speed up and barged into the door.

As Amy was done with putting on her dress she was escorted by her father towards the church. "Please father, don't force me to marry this liar." Amy pleaded as she looked hopeful towards her father. "Not that story again, Scourge is no liar, he's a hero. He rescued my little baby and it's only fair for me to grant his wish of marrying you." the king said as his happy mood dropped a bit. "And what about my wishes?"Amy asked with tears in her eyes. "I'm sure Scourge can make your wishes come true Amy, now stop going so slow or we will be late." Amy's father said.

They soon where in front of the altar where Scourge was already waiting and as soon as Amy was next to them they started the wedding ceremony. Amy didn't really pay attention to what was going on as her thoughts where only filled with memories of her and Sonic while holding back her tears as best as she could. However, her thoughts were interrupted as the priest called her name for the tenth time at least. 

"Your highness?" the priest asked once again as Amy snapped out of her thoughts and noticed everyone looking at her. "W-What?" Amy asked confused. "I asked if you want to be prince Scourge's wife." the priest asked once again. "I- um ..." Amy hesitated with her answer as she looked towards Scourge, who looked a bit angry towards her. "I WILL NOT MARRY HIM!" Amy shouted out loud so everyone could hear and before anyone could say something the doors were pushed open. The whole room fell quiet and everyone looked towards the door quiet shocked. 

As Amy looked towards the door she couldn't believe the sight in front of her. Right in front of the doorway stood Sonic, with all her friends behind him. Amy was about to ran right towards him as Scourge grabbed her arm. "Don't worry princes, I shall fight that traitor once more, so he wouldn't bother you anymore." Scourge said  loud enough so everyone could hear while he looked angry towards the princess. Suddenly Scourge was lying on the ground as he got punched by Sonic in the face in the blick of an eye. "I've had it with your lies and hands off my Amy!" Sonic said quiet angry as he held Amy close to him.
