-----POEM 1 -----

---The moon has killed the sun---

The darkness welcomes us with open arms

Our eyes flash open in bewilderment and alarm.

Vines of poison constrict around our necks

For this to us is the call of death

We run, we scream, we shout, we cry

But they call to us, "its time to die!"

In complete and utter sense of defeat

They order us to kiss their feet

The others fall helplessly on their knees

And what I see I cannot believe.

They press their lips upon the dirt

Blood and soil mixed on their shirts

I refuse to believe what I can see now

My brothers my sisters conquered, they bow

Yet I stand tall because I know where I'll go

Because beyond the turmoil it is hope I will show

The heavens listen and hear me weep

As my family falls into an eternal sleep

Tonight is the night when all comes undone

Since tonight is the evening the moon kills the sun

This is my first attempt to write a real poem so I hope you like it!
