Untitled Part 18

Dear Sweet Summer Child,

Do not mourn the wilting flowers. Do not cry for falling leaves. Do not worry for the spring floods. Do not fear trampling upon the grass. Or breaking branches as you go.

For none of these are so bad as they seem.

Flowers wilt first in order to bloom again. Leaves fall so the tree can survive cold winters. Rain feeds the growing flowers. Grass will bounce back and branches can be regrown.

So do not feel so bad for the losses seemingly so important now. A good gardener knows to trim their plants before winter snows, and that will let the grow better in the following spring.

Of course, you and I care not for gardening.

Dear Reckless City Girl,

Do not mourn for lost love. Do not cry for the darkness inside you. Do not worry the stress of extra work. Do not fear the accidental harshness of your words. Or the friends lost along the way.

For none of these are so bad as they seem.

Love must be first lost to be found again. Darkness is needed to balance out the light. That extra work now will pay off later. Harsh words can be forgiven and new friends can always be found.

So do not feel bad for the losses seemingly so important now. It is okay to let today be as bad as it needs to be, for that will make tomorrow better.

Of course, you and I don't always remember that.
