Harry woke up without the pain he expected to feel. Had he managed to avoid Uncle Vernon's temper the night before? It would be a first. Then he took in his surroundings, and his memories caught up with him. He pulled the blanket off his thin frame and made his way over to the window to see if it's day or night. When the heavy curtains were pulled aside, cloud dimmed rays of sunlight filtered in, cool and dim, but enough to know that it's daytime.
Harry's POV
There is a knock at the door behind me, making me jump, but I go over to open it. I avoid direct eye contact, but still keep my head up. I can't let myself seem weak. Not like last night.
"I've made breakfast come eat and take some potions. We can speak after we finish." He says, voice lacking the usual tone of disgust and disapproval when addressing me.
It somehow makes me angry that he changed his attitude only after I show up at his home nearly dead. I am not weak, and I don't need his pity!
Deciding that getting angry at the man who saved my life, gave me a place to sleep last night, and even made me breakfast, was not my wisest plan; I take a deep breath and follow him to the kitchen. We have oatmeal and fruit for breakfast, and he makes me finish the whole bowl before I am given my potions.
"This is to continue repairing your organs. You may be out of immediate danger, but you will have lasting effects. This is bone strengthening, blood replenishing, muscle growth, and nutrition." Snape explains as he points to each one in turn.
I groan and down each disgusting vile before I can think about it. When I finish, he looks at me expectantly.
"I suppose you want that explanation now. Alright, the short story is that Dumbledore, Ron, Hermione, Molly, Ginny, and maybe more that I don't know about yet, have been faking to care about me. They plan on making sure I die during the war, but not before getting me to marry Ginny and leave everything to her. They have even been giving me love potions. They also got Sirius killed so he couldn't be proven innocent and take me in."
He looked surprised and angry, but still managed to ask, "Why would Black need to take you in?"
I could tell he already had an idea of what happened, probably because of the diagnostic spells last night. He wants to hear it from me.
"You should know why after last night."
"I can't do anything about it without a direct confession."
"I'm not here for you to do anything about it. I just needed help with my injuries. Thank you for that by the way."
"You can't go back to those muggles."
"I don't plan to. I am meeting with a goblin today to discuss emancipation. After that I will probably rent a room or if I have enough I will buy my own place so I can practice magic considering I will be legally of age."
"I see. Perhaps it would be better if you just stayed here. I will take you to Gringotts as long as you are under a cloak. When you are finished, I will allow you to make whatever purchases you need and bring you back here."
"I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself."
"Maybe so, but you are still a child and you will likely go and eat junk food all day every day and make yourself sick. That or you will starve yourself without realizing it."
"Oh don't act like you care. You made your choice. You can check up on me to make sure I'm not dead if it makes you feel better, but I don't need someone hovering around me, pretending to care. I get enough of that at school."
