Kita followed the other Angels and Secret Service detail up the metal stairs to the flight deck door.
"Hey! What the hell are you doing?" yelled a stern voice from below. "We're at general quarters. Why are you practicing from the drag show and not at your stations?"
Kita turned around. "Do I look like a man?" she snarled at the man in a khaki uniform.
"Who the hell are you?"
Kita glared from under her hood. "You don't recognize your princess? Maybe you'll recognize this one." She moved a wing revealing Apocalypse.
"Can I help you, Chief?" said Apocalypse.
"Your Highness! I didn't know you were with them. Can I help you?"
"We're headed to the flight deck."
"The flight deck is for authorized personnel only during flight operations, Your Highness."
"I don't look like I'm ready for flight operations? Go to the bridge and tell Captain Allen that my friends and I will be on the flight deck. We won't interfere with anything."
"Yes, Your Highness. You'll need to stop by the locker room and get helmets and get the right color jerseys. They'll assign you an escort."
Kita rolled her eyes. "We come with all the color we need. Let's go."
Aspen flittered up the stairs.
"You can fly?" exclaimed the chief petty officer.
"Why do you think we're going outside?" said Sapper.
"Don't worry, Chief. It's all taken care of," said Apocalypse.
The Angels climbed the stairs and opened the door to the flight deck.
"Damn man," said Sapper as she contorted to get through the door. "I thought the Army had small doors."
The roar of a jet engine momentarily drowned out all other sounds.
"Not a lot of room out here," said Aspen.
Aircraft and the runway took all available space.
"Over there," said Sapper pointing to an open area on the far side of the runway.
"We'll hop over it," said Kita. "You help Nicole, I'll get Kimmy."
"What are we doing?" said Apocalypse.
"Short flight to that open area. I'll help you fly." Kita put her hands on Apocalypse's waist. "Flap your wings and think up." She rose off the ground pulling Apocalypse with her.
"Oh, whoa...wow," exclaimed Apocalypse as she rose into the air.
"Keep flapping. Once we're high enough, think about moving forward, and we'll cross the runway."
Apocalypse flapped her wings, and they rose higher. Kita pushed her forward until she moved on her own. They crossed the ship and landed in the open area. Behind them, the Secret Service agents ran across the runway.
"Excellent," said Kita giving Apocalypse a kiss on the cheek.
"That was incredible."
"Soon you'll outfly the fighters. I'm going to go coordinate with the team leaders. I need you to work with Leaf on learning your healing and defensive abilities. When I come back, I'll show you your offensive abilities."
"Ok. What are you going to do?"
"Rally the troops. I can feel emotion, and it's not good. I'm going to tell them it's not over yet."
